My 2 Year Old Grew This Dinnerplate Dahlia – It’s 12 Inches Wide

I am astounded that this Dahlia is as beautiful as it is.  It’s a Dinnerplate Dahlia and it’s almost 12 inches in diameter.  We bought the bulbs at Armstrong Gardens on Morena Blvd in March.  I am constantly working on my yard (or at least that’s what it feels like) so La Jolla Girl is used to the drill.  Anyway, she ripped the red Dinnerplate Dahlia package off the display and I said that we could buy it if she took care of it.  We dug the hole together, threw in organic bulb fertilizer, filled it in, watered the Dahlia and waited.  Ok, well my sprinklers watered it.  It took what felt like a million years to get the Dahlia tuber in the ground with her attention span and shoveling skills. She uses this Green Toys Sand Play Set My 2 Year Old Grew This Dinnerplate Dahlia Its 12 Inches Wide in the yard.

All in all, I’m quite pleased.  I told her every day that “a flower is coming” and yesterday it finally did.  She squealed with joy (it could have been coincidence) when she saw it.  There’s probably a lesson in there somewhere, like patience.  Anyway, it was a very easy project that we both enjoyed.  We have several colors and varieties of Dahlias, but this red Dinnerplate Dahlia is by far the most impressive.  I do not buy flowers for my house in the spring/summer because I cut them in my yard.

She’s also waiting for a Spider Lily to appear, but it could be fall before that happens.  She checks it every day. La Jolla Girl also loves watering. A few months ago, that’s all she wanted to do was over water my plants.  I bought matching OXO watering cans for the two of us.  Hers is a yellow OXO Good Grips Mini Watering Can 1.06-quart My 2 Year Old Grew This Dinnerplate Dahlia Its 12 Inches Wide and mine is a green OXO Good Grips Watering Can 2.11 gallon My 2 Year Old Grew This Dinnerplate Dahlia Its 12 Inches Wide.  They’re really good.  Hers, in the beginning, wasn’t supposed to be “hers”.  It was supposed to be kept under the kitchen sink to water my small indoor plants but she hijacked it.
