Stonyfield Farm Review and Giveaway!

by La Jolla Mom on August 10, 2009

in Food, Going Green, Reviews and Giveaways

I‘ve been a purchaser of Stonyfield products for years, so I was very excited to be contacted by Stonyfield to host a giveaway. I buy Stonyfield because, simply, it tastes good. It’s organic with no unnatural colors, flavors or preservatives. I also buy Stonyfield because I’ve read that if you’re going to buy organic, dairy and meats should be highest on your list. It makes sense intellectually, but please read more about the importance of this here (scroll down a little bit to get to the article).  They also have a special mix of probiotic cultures in their yogurt.

Stonyfield has an excellent, kid friendly website that I spent a lot of time on before writing this review. There is so much information on it and I am amazed by all of the proactive things they do for the community and environment. Here’s a short list of things about Stonyfield that I wasn’t aware of. Did you know:

  1.  All of Stonyfield’s products are certified Kosher.
  2. The plastic tub is BPA free, but they’ve taken great measures to make the overall packaging as environmentally friendly as possible.  YoBaby and YoKids were recently redesigned to produce less waste. Also, pay attention to the foils lids on the 6oz yogurt cups, pomegranate has a coupon on it right now and others have special messages.
  3. Stonyfield has a started Greener Cow Program where they help their milk suppliers change the diets of cows in order to decrease cow burping, which is a contributor to global warming.  The end result is also better tasting yogurt!
  4. Stonyfield gives away 10% of it’s profits to projects and organizations that protect and restore the earth!

When La Jolla Girl started eating solid food and it came time to give her yogurt, her pediatrician recommended Stonyfield because it’s organic and it has a special mix of live active cultures that make it easier for babies to digest.  After that, she ate it almost every day because she loved it so much.  Have you ever tasted YoBaby?  It’s delicious.  We were living in  Hong Kong at the time and it’s sold there in some specialty stores.  We bought it in Hong Kong at almost 2x the price it retails for here.  I had no guilt about it because it’s such a good product and she still eats it today, almost 2 years later.

I eat Stonyfield too. I try to eat yogurt every day to get my daily dose of calcium.  If you feel like you don’t eat enough calcium rich foods, keep an eye out for Stonyfield’s YoCalcium yogurt which has 50% of your daily recommended dose.  However, my favorite yogurt on the planet is Stonyfield pomegranate (and it has been since long before this review).  It’s the “People’s Choice” flavor for good reason.  I like it because it’s a perfect consistency, yummy and fat free! I also am a huge fan of their ice cream. I dare you to buy a tub of Stonyfield Creme Caramel ice cream and tell me it’s not good. icon smile Stonyfield Farm Review and Giveaway!   Have you read any Dr Sears parenting books? Dr Bill Sears is a Stonyfield fan too.

Hi,

I love Stonyfield farms products. I’ve been using their Whole Milk Plain Yogurt for my babies since they were 6 months old (they are almost 17 months old now). They love it and can’t imagine one day without this treat.
I wish I could eat that whole milk yogurt too but I need to watch my calories after all :-) That’s why my personal choice is Chocolate Fat-Free Yogurt. It’s so delicious that I always eat it when I am craving ice-cream or some other unhealthy treats :-) Go Stonyfield Farms!

When my son started eating solid food, he ate yobaby every day. I really like this new product idea – it would have helped (and still would) increase his veggie intake. He’s not so much into vegetables.
