I was really hoping for a knock out here but wasn’t hopeful due to the $8.99 price tag. I bought it at Henry’s, intrigued by the Fair Trade aspect.
I’m struggling to fine detailed information on the exact bottle of wine I bought. Stellar Organics is the largest producer of organic wines in South Africa. I was shocked that it was a 2009 vintage when I brought it home, but that makes sense due to the lack of sulfites. This wine is Fair Trade Certified by Transfair USA.
Winemakers Notes: ”
This sulphite-free Shiraz is a rich dark red colour with a dark nose of pepper and forest floor. The taste is rich and full bodied without harsh tannins. The wine is unwooded with a juicy mouth feel.
Enjoy with peppercorn steak, herb or black pepper crusted cheese.”
Rating:
It was good and I give them huge props for the fair trade aspect. I’m not sure I’d want to drink it all the time. I’m interested to try their white wines too. I have some friends that I’ll buy it for that will love that it’s fair trade.
