As you may have read a few months ago, I actually know the brothers Gaglione. I worked with Andy back in my corporate life and it’s been too long since I’ve seen him or his brothers Joe and Tony. I’m very pleased, but not surprised, that their fabulous family run sandwich shops have experienced such success. Bite into one of their sandwich masterpieces and you’ll instantly see why they have a loyal following.
Gaglione Bros has a kids menu, however, La Jolla Girl is more of a Cheesesteak kind of gal. I typically order “healthier” sandwiches but make an exception for Gaglione Bros and splurge on a Cheesesteak for us to share. La Jolla Dad takes down his own Cheesesteak sandwich, of course. There are a bunch of steak sandwiches to choose from. Oh and if you’re missing Thanksgiving, any time of the year you can order The Turk, which is turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce and mayo. I haven’t had it yet, but it’s on my list.
You’re going to be hearing much more about this starting in a few days, but Gaglione Bros will participate in the Food4Kids dollar a dish fundraiser. Knowing them, this act of kindness is also not surprising and an even better reason to try out Gaglione Bros during this time. Food4Kids helps raise money to feed hungry kids in San Diego. I mean don’t these look like the nicest guys ever?
Anyway, the main reason for this post is to let you know about Gaglione Bros’ new Mission Gorge location, now open in the Friars Village Shopping Center. This is their 3rd, which has increased indoor seating along with beer and wine on the menu. Yay! I’m sure that it will be a hit.

Don’t forget about the Point Loma and Mission Beach locations too!

Being the selfless mother I am, I gave a gift certificate to Gaglione Bros that I received from a local radio station to my daughter–who begged me for it. She ate the sandwich (think it was old school Philly Cheese) in front of me, proclaiming it fantastic. If I had kept certificate for myself would have had to try the steak and onion.
I already follow @GaglioneBros on Twitter and of course have a subscription to the La Jolla Mom blog in my Google reader. Do I get credit for being proactive?

I have not had a good cheesesteak since I lived in Philly back in grad school. I am going to take my kid and try it out.

You had me at Cheesesteak. I think a catered party like this would be perfect for the guys at my husband’s work. It would be so much fun to provide lunch for them as a thank you for all they’ve done for us. (Hub’s boss is great – such a nice guy.)

Oh yum. I’ve never tried one — and I’ve also never tried a cheesesteak, so I’ll go with that route!

I would go for the Cheez Whiz Steak. I have not yet been to Gaglione Bros though I’ve heard great things. Having grown in the Philly area I occasionally get a craving for a “real” cheesesteak. Just months after moving to San Diego I compiled a list. Gaglione Bros is on that list…I just need to convince my husband to go! I think after dragging him to South St. (we spent some time in Philly during last summer’s vacation) that he might be a convert.

Oh wow! We just moved to that side of town, so they are really close by! Gosh the decisions, they all sound great! I think I would go for the Mushroom Cheesesteak. I’ve got to tell Mr. about this and plan a dinner out!

I absolutely LOVE their cheesesteak sandwiches. I go for The Works cheesesteak so you get the mushrooms, peppers, cheese…the whole nine yards. Their fries are awesome too. You can get cheez-whiz with/without jalapenos or even parsley & garlic fries. You have GOT to check this place out. I am super jazzed that they opened their new location too. It is right by my work…which could be dangerous
I’ve been to Gaglione Bros in the past, but have not tried the cheesesteak–I always get The Turk. I’d love a party a 10 and promise to try the cheesesteak!
Can’t wait to try The Turk!
