Spring is a perfect time to pop open Rose wines. What a perfect way to add color to a spring themed table of white linens, seasonal pastel flowers and sunny weather. If you’re going to celebrate with a Rose, you might feel better knowing some of the purchase price goes toward benefiting others in need. Charity Case Wines, a project of Jayson Woodbridge (Layer Cake Wines), donates 100% of net proceeds to charities that support families and children around Napa Valley.
You may remember my post about Charity Case Sauvignon Blanc 2009. I liked it. This time, I took the Charity Case Rose 2008 to the San Diego Wine Mafia Rose Rumble. We blind tasted 12 rose wines.
Tasting Notes: “Charity Case Rosé is a complex, elegant wine. Aromas of dried strawberry, rhubarb, and kaffir lime peel fill the nose. On first taste, flavors of cranberry, strawberry and red raspberries fill your mouth, then a long lingering finish of orange blossom and hints of delicate white pepper leave you wanting more.”
The San Diego Wine Mafia all tasted major melons. Honeydew, to be exact. Yummy. Retail price online is $11.99. With tax and shipping to CA, it’s $15.50 per bottle. Not bad.
Rating: 
This was sweeter than most of the other roses we tasted, without being overbearing. I really liked it and rated it my 3rd favorite of the day (blind). I know the others rated it highly.

I am so excited to start drinking Rose again. It’s just the perfect warmer weather wine. Warmer being over 70 degrees. Don’t tell any New Yorkers I said that.
