There is so much to say that I’m not sure how to break it down. First, we’ve owned quite a few Sony products in our house over time. Be default of my FoundersCard, I’m a new member of Sony Cierge where the level of customer service is beyond extraordinary. Just this is enough to solidify our relationship.
And, Kimberly Blaine, The Go To Mom, is my friend. I bought my Sony video camera because I used hers to help film a video of us at the Montage Laguna (click on the link to see the video) last year. I liked the camera, so I bought it. Simple enough. Kimberly and Sony invited me to a pre-BlogHer event at the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego that blew me away.
Little did I know that famed photographer Brian Smith would be taking my photo, after his lovely wife Fazia Ali spent a long time perfecting my makeup. I say that endearingly because I slept horribly at the Hard Rock so my skin was a wreck and, I dare say, I needed the work. She is meticulous and well, amazing.

We spent the first part of the day learning about how Brian shoots photos of his subjects, who happened to be Shaquille O’Neal, Alyssa Milano, Richard Branson and other famous people. The lesson was about about finding interesting backdrops and angles. It was totally fascinating. We were given brand new Sony Cybershot DXC-WS9 16.1 megapixel cameras and cases. We walked around San Diego Harbor practicing the various settings. It was a gorgeous day to boot. Here is Jeanette against a very cool backdrop we spotted.

I have a point and shoot camera from a competing brand that I’m getting rid of. This Cybershot is amazing. It takes panoramic photos with ease and has this setting called soft skin that will make anyone look like they belong in Vogue magazine. To boot, the camera is only $219.99 retail.
You may have noticed my new Twitter avatar or photos on Facebook that are from my session with Brian. He uses Sony equipment too.

The man knows what he’s doing and he seriously couldn’t be more down to earth and fun to be around. Brian has a book coming out called Art & Soul that you may pre-order on Amazon. It’s a compilation of celebrity photos and handwritten notes detailing what the arts have meant to them. Some proceeds from the book will go to The Creative Coalition, a nonprofit, nonpartisan social and public advocacy organization of the arts and entertainment community.
This was one of the nicest events I have attended, with a great group of women. Stay tuned for more about the actual camera. I left my USB cord in a hotel and it should be back in my hands later this week. But, if you’re in the market for a point and shoot, this is the camera. It’s the best small camera I’ve owned. Between this event, my trouble free (so far) Sony equipment, and my personal Sony concierge, I’d now be hard pressed to buy another brand unless there is a major price discrepancy. The latter hasn’t yet happened though.
*I was given a Sony Cybershot camera and case. This two-day, expenses paid event was sponsored by Sony Electronics. Opinions are my own.
