About La Jolla

La Jolla is a seaside community that occupies about seven miles of coastline along the Pacific Ocean. We’re about 12 miles north of downtown San Diego and about 40 miles south of Orange County. Therefore, we have year round gorgeous weather and according to Wikipedia, the average daily temperature is 70.5F (21.4C).
La Jolla is well known for beautiful beaches, upscale shopping and gourmet restaurants. I love being a parent here because we can be outside year round and we have Sea World, Legoland, and the San Diego Zoo all within close proximity.
La Jolla is pronounced (la-HOY-ah) ![]()

I found you on Snooth because I just recently was at Costco and bought the Naiara Malbec Reserva 2006 and wanted to see what the reviews were…and there you were with a review on it.
I am also a LJ mom and live in Bird Rock. What a small world! My daughter is a sophomore at LJ High. I enjoyed reading your blog and just wanted to say HI.

we live up in Fallbrook and your blog is great, it will help me see your area through a tourist’s eyes again! Love the wine reviews too.
Hello, I own a local Construction Company named Briven Construction, we have built houses in La Jolla and P.B. for the last five years (our banner is up @ 2745 Costebelle). As you know, construction is very slow, so I am starting a Wood Reuse Company here in San Diego to hopefullyt stay afloat. I’ve been recovering Cedar Fencing from fence companies that would normally take it to the landfill. The products I have come up with so far are wine, fruit, and pet related. Please check them out on Etsy, if you are interested in a couple of things I would be more than happy to send them to you free of charge in hopes that you would write about the site. Please let me know if this reached you. Thanks for your time, Brian Behncke
Hi,
Our family of 4 is moving to La Jolla for one month for my husband’s work from CT. I was so caught up in the weather (anything over freezing sems luxurious right now) that I never thought about companionship for myself or my 2 sons (ages 4 and 20 months). In the spirit of procrastination, we are leaving in 7 days, I am just now starting to look into options. I was hoping that if you have a chance you could fill me in on playdate groups, classes and generally cool places for my kids to be able to rock out.
