This is one of our top picks from the current BevMo 5 cent sale.  It’s Gen5 Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 and though I feel that Wilfred Wong pads his ratings a little bit, he is right about this wine.  He gave it a 92 rating and said, “Way past the pretty face stage, the sophisticated and finely tuned ’08 Gen 5 Cabernet is one of the best reds I have ever tasted out of Lodi; bountiful [...]

Needless to say, I was surprised when I opened this box. We receive a lot of wine deliveries, but the delivery boxes usually contain wine in bottles, not in pouches. I have enjoyed Clif Family Winery’s The Climber wines before, so my curiosity was definitely peaked.  Look at the packaging. It certainly does provide all terrain wine transport for whatever you’re doing outdoors this summer. Benefits of The Pouch Let me tell you about that [...]

When you mention Chinese wine, people don’t think of grape wine. Rice wine or distilled liquors come to mind first. Whenever I drink a wine that benefits charity, I have a moment of hesitation before taking the first sip. I close my eyes and internally wish it to be good. I love the idea of charitable wines and always want them to succeed. The Cleavage Creek Story:  Budge Brown, a successful businessman and [...]

I was beyond happy when I opened the box containing this special wine.  I’m familiar with Clos du Val and their reliably excellent wines. As a busy mom, I don’t always have time to browse the wine aisle.  I can quickly spot the Clos du Val label and run to the check out, as the Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon are usually easy to find in major grocery stores.  The Clos du Val Stag’s Leap Cabernet [...]

I ran into Bevmo in a major hurry the other day.  I had no time to look and didn’t have anything particular in mind so I asked for a recommendation.  The guy stocking bottles in the Cabernet Sauvignon aisle said “uh, this one”, turned his back, and didn’t follow it up with anything else. So, I bought two bottles.  He was right, it was very good.  It was drinkable within a few minutes of opening the bottle [...]
