The last winery I’d like to share with you from my NBC segment about San Diego County wines is Bernardo Winery. It’s the only winery I’ve ever been to where I did not drink any wine. Why, you ask? It’s not just a winery. People of all ages have something fun to do in this mini community. It was also 10a.m., I had La Jolla Girl with me, and I had a feeling I’d wind [...]

I love the story behind this winery. Rosa and Gerry Cordiano moved from Italy to San Diego in the early 1990s. They shared their love of Italian food via opening several restaurants around the county, but winemaking was their first love. Eventually, they pursued that dream too. The Cabernet Sauvignon above, mentioned in my NBC San Diego segment about San Diego County Wineries, is one of the best bottles of wine I’ve had from San [...]

When researching San Diego County wineries for my NBC segment, I asked my local wine blogger friends if they have any favorites. I know you have a vision of Martinelli’s in your mind, but clear it. J. Jenkins Dolcezza apple wine was brought to my attention by Carolyn, the wine buyer at Whole Foods La Jolla. I picked her brain a little regarding my NBC segment on San Diego County wines and, of course, she was a wealth of information. This apple wine is soon to be stocked at Whole Foods, so keep an eye out for [...]

A few weeks ago, I did a segment on NBC San Diego’s California Nonstop show about San Diego wineries. This was one of the most interesting assignments I’ve had so far. There’s nothing terrible about having to sample wine and visit wineries, but I truly enjoyed learning about our local wine industry. On the segment, I displayed wines from four San Diego County wineries who also grow fruit here. I’ll tell you about each of [...]

Despite being an incredibly easy 1 hour drive away from Temecula Valley Wine Country, I hadn’t been to any wineries out there in several years. I take that back, it had been almost 10. I feel absurd just typing that. I had a great time, intend to go back with more frequency, and drank some excellent wines. Here is what we did. I arrived at the Temecula Creek Inn to check-in for the night. Because [...]
