Maple Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe

The maple flavor in this cream cheese frosting isn’t too strong, which is what I was going for. A lot of maple cream cheese frosting recipes call for maple flavoring that’s not available in the average grocery store, so I experimented with using organic maple syrup from Trader Joe’s. It came out pretty good and just has a very, very light maple taste. I used it on pumpkin cupcakes.

Maple Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe

1 box of sifted powdered sugar (16oz/1 lb)
2 8oz packages of cream cheese
1 stick of butter
1/4 cup of maple syrup
1/2 tsp vanilla

Mix all ingredients together.

Use on pumpkin cupcakes, carrot cupcakes or even vanilla cupcakes. It’s a little bit sticky so would be tough to pipe decorations. I found that after I put the cupcakes in the fridge, the frosting set and had a smoother appearance.

You could garnish with a crushed up Heath Bar or Kit Kat. I also colored mine a little bit darker brown since I was making turkey cupcakes. Otherwise, it’s just off white.
