If you like an oaked Chardonnay, this wine is for you. I bought 2009 Line 39 Chardonnay at the last BevMo 5 cent sale for about $8 a bottle.  The La Jolla store only had 6 bottles left so I took them all just based on the online description. I’m so glad I did. But, not everyone likes a creamy Chardonnay like I do. Winemakers Notes:

A Wine Geared Toward Fun, Sophisticated Women

The irony is that this Vin Parfait wine arrived on the same day that La Jolla Dad was giving us grief about making breakfast parfaits every morning. But that’s nether here nor there! Vin Parfait means “Perfect Wine” in French.  But everyone has their own idea of a perfect wine. The winemakers at Vin Parfait tell a little story that I’ll summarize here.  Their wines are made for women in their 20s and 30s who [...]

I‘ve been intrigued by Israeli wines for a while as I have picked up a few at Costco that have been pretty good.  I was sent a bottle of Gilgal Chardonnay and a bottle of Gilgal Cabernet Sauvignon to try, so obviously, I did. Gilgal wines are produced and bottled by the Golan Heights Winery, Israel’s most prestigious winery. These wines are named after Gilgal Refaim, which is a massive set of ancient concentric circles [...]

But the word “virgin” is because the wine never comes into contact with oak. This wine is 100% pure Chardonnay with 100% stainless steel fermentation.  This is not the buttery Chardonnay you might be looking for.  I admit it, I love buttery Chardonnays.  But Jayson Woodbridge decided to go back [...]

End the Day with Foppiano Chardonnay

Sorry for the rhyme, but here’s why it’s appropriate. Today was one of “those” days.  After a ridiculously busy morning, I forgot I had a dentist appointment in Del Mar and had to bring the La Jolla Girl.  Not only that, I had to skip her nap to take her.  Then rushed back to La Jolla for another meeting, to the grocery store and home.  I clocked in at 5:00 totally wiped out having put [...]

Fresh & Easy Specializes in Wines Under $10

We were already biased toward Fresh & Easy before it opened.  We lived in London and frequently shopped at Tesco, Fresh & Easy’s parent company. The closest Fresh & Easy to us is in Point Loma, but we make a point of stopping there every time we’re nearby.  La Jolla Dad just loves the place.  They have great deals on products we normally buy, plus their own brand can be excellent.  We like their rosemary [...]
