Fetish The Watcher Shiraz 2008 (Yes, It’s Wine)

This was a label purchase at San Diego Wine Company. I do not recall being sold by a write up or anything else. My love of Barossa Valley Shiraz plus the name Fetish equaled purchase.  This wine is big, bold and basically has a lot going on.  I suspect because it’s aged in 15% shaven French oak, 30% shaven American oak, and the rest in third-fill American wood for 10 months. Wow. Winemaker’s Notes: “The [...]

You’re going to think I’m insane, but we hosted a fairly large surprise party in the middle of our eco-friendly bathroom remodel.  It’s a long story, but we thought we’d be much further along in the process, and that it would be doable.  It was a nice party, but not in the style that I typically prefer. We celebrated at Brain Wines house, which luckily is near mine. Anyway, we tasted 5 Red Mountain Syrahs (paper [...]

I was beyond happy when I opened the box containing this special wine.  I’m familiar with Clos du Val and their reliably excellent wines. As a busy mom, I don’t always have time to browse the wine aisle.  I can quickly spot the Clos du Val label and run to the check out, as the Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon are usually easy to find in major grocery stores.  The Clos du Val Stag’s Leap Cabernet [...]

Paringa Shiraz 2008: My BevMo 5 Cent Sale Pick

I‘m a little bit perplexed because I thought the BevMo 5 cent sale ended on Monday but online, it seems to still be going. I happen to be on a Shiraz kick lately.  This bottle is worth checking out especially if you locate it at your BevMo and it’s still on sale.  It’s regular price is $11.99 so during the 5 cent sale when you get the second bottle for 5 cents, that’s a whopping [...]
