Located midway between the heart of Orange County and downtown San Diego, the city offers easy access to SoCal’s most popular attractions.

Affordable accommodations here come with city and coastal views, unique amenities, and SoCal hospitality.

This historic property was one of the first Oceanside hotels when it opened in the late 1920s and was popular with Hollywood celebrities. It was recently renovated into a true boutique hotel with 27 rooms and suites. You can expect modern amenities combined with tasteful historic charm.

Standard king rooms can be reserved for two guests, and double queen rooms can accommodate up to four. Upgrade to a king balcony suite for a room with indoor and outdoor seating areas.

Guest rooms are outfitted with upscale amenities such as an oversized HDTV, a Keurig coffee maker, premium toiletries, dimmer switches, and a screen to project your favorite shows or movies from your phone.

A continental breakfast is served daily for an extra fee, and the hotel’s concierge is happy to recommend nearby restaurants for lunch and dinner and recommendations for the nearest spas, fitness centers, golf courses, theme parks, and things to do in Oceanside.

If you’re staying in Oceanside without a rental car, this boutique hotel’s location near the Oceanside Transit Center means it’s easier to get to the hotel from the airport and some sites using local and regional public transportation systems.

4. The Brick Hotel

Address: 408 Pier View Way, Oceanside, 92054

If you’re looking for a stylish, intimate hotel with a modern/rustic blend, The Brick Hotel in downtown Oceanside is a great choice. Named for the beautiful exposed brick featured on much of the property’s exterior and interior, this boutique 10-room hotel is housed in a historic building dating back to 1888.

Eight of the rooms sleep two people, while the two other rooms have a sofa bed in a spacious living area and sleep four. Pets are allowed in some rooms, too, so ask when booking. Select rooms have balconies featuring premium-quality linens, comforters, and chicly decorated bathrooms.

For such a small hotel, The Brick Hotel offers many food—and particularly beverage—options! The rooms are perched above the Q&A Restaurant and Oyster Bar and beneath Cococabana, a Caribbean-style rooftop cocktail bar serving small bites. You can also choose from Frankie’s, a sophisticated wood-paneled cocktail lounge, or Stone Beer Garden, which sits in a charming leafy setting with a communal firepit.

The property owners also offer a two-bedroom bungalow that sleeps six and is dog-friendly, but it’s not part of the hotel. You can find more information on their website.

The Green Room Hotel is also an upscale boutique hotel. It is located in the eclectic coastal community of southern Oceanside, not far from Carlsbad Village.

The hotel was fully renovated in 2021 after starting as a 1950s motel. Today, it features 12 individually designed suites that marry a bohemian style with a chic beach vibe. You can choose from six deluxe studios, five suites, and one two-bedroom suite, the last of which is a great choice for families thanks to its full kitchen, separate living and dining area, and outdoor patio.

Guests will appreciate the contactless check-in, Igloo Home Smart Locks, and memory foam mattresses with premium bedding. Each room has retro appliances, including a mini fridge with a freezer and coffee/tea maker. Some rooms have private patios and are dog-friendly. There’s no onsite parking, which means no parking fee, and WIFI and bottled water are included.

A unique feature of the hotel is its focus on communal spaces where guests can mingle, including a firepit, patios with comfy outdoor furniture, and a cedar hot tub. Guests can also borrow the hotel’s beach cruiser bikes and surfboards.

The Oceanside hotel is perfectly situated close to the beach and the freeway, so wherever you’re headed for the day, you won’t have far to go. And there are plenty of nearby surf breaks, bike trails, and lagoons to explore.
