Last night, I was furiously trying to figure out how to snorkel with manatees in Crystal River, Florida and where we should stay. Naturally, I landed on TripAdvisor to read various hotel and tour reviews.
Truthfully, I wind up on the site multiple times per week for my own trip planning purposes and use it as a reference when writing San Diego hotel articles. It’s the largest travel community in the world, after all, reaching 350 million unique monthly visitors.
But I’d been missing a trick that really only dawned on me after partnering with them to share this amazing giveaway.
Now, you can find and BOOK the best price for a hotel on TripAdvisor.
They check rates from over 200 sites so you can book your ideal hotel at the best price. I’m a fan of one-stop shopping.
Why I Use TripAdvisor
First things first, TripAdvisor has been my go-to source for travel information for a long time. It tells me which of the five restaurants on the same Barcelona city street are best—necessary knowledge when you and your friends are hankering for immediate tapas. It’s helped me pick hotels in New York City and prioritizes what I should see on a short trip to Great Exuma. You get the picture but let’s break it down a bit further.
TripAdvisor has over 320 million traveler reviews and opinions covering more than 6.2 million travel-related businesses around the world.
A Behind-the-Scenes View
There are over 46 million candid travel photos on the site. I find everyday user photos helpful to get a sense of what a hotel is really like.
For Questions and Answers
Members can ask for and share opinions, advice, and experiences in community discussions.
To Research and Book Activities
Things to do in destinations worldwide such as tours, sights, and unique experiences have reviews and opinions with helpful tips from skip-the-line booking tips to time it takes to get there.
Plan While on the Go
I realized while on that Barcelona street corner how much more convenient an app would be. It turns out TripAdvisor has one available on all major mobile platforms (I’ll be using it on my upcoming Taipei trip). The “Near Me Now” feature helps point out nearby restaurants, attractions and hotels plus you can download information in advance to avoid roaming costs.
Now… for Booking Hotels
I found a really awesome price on a business class flight to Quito that I’m considering booking. I’ve never been there and the hotels I normally stay at don’t have properties in the city so I went to TripAdvisor to try to find the best luxury hotel. This is what popped up which gives you a good idea of how their booking process works.

Where I’m Headed in 2016
I’m surprisingly lax about this year’s travel plans and don’t have as many trips on the books yet relatively speaking. I’m trying to figure out how to get to Bora Bora (pictured at top) and the Middle East this year in addition to Tokyo and Quito. Lofty goals, yes. However, we’re definitely headed to:
Where are you headed in 2016?
