Come On In! Cafe is one of my family’s favorite La Jolla restaurants. We like the casual cafe atmosphere and the option to dine outside with the dog. The food is reliably good and the servers always steer us in the right direction when it comes to ordering. We enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner at the restaurant and to go. Our parties are even usually catered by Come On In! Cafe.
Our Come On In Cafe Order
We typically go for an early dinner on half-price bottle of wine night (Monday and Tuesday nights). In case you need help deciding what to order, here’s what we go for. I’ll let you guess who orders what.
Breakfast: power breakfast, breakfast burrito, smoothie and muffin.
Lunch: Come On In! salad, roast beef sandwich (has marble rye option, La Jolla Dad loves it), chili, grilled cheese.
Dinner: Come On In! salad (it’s my favorite), carpaccio, linguine con vongole, pasta with butter and cheese.
If you are in a hurry, call in a to go order. It’s usually ready in 10-15 minutes.
Don’t Skip Dessert Here, Ever
I can tell you that many people in this town agree with me that the cakes at Come On In! Cafe are outstanding. The layered cakes serve 12-15 people and cost between $30-35. This is a bargain for what you get. You may also drop by the restaurant and order a large slice to go. My favorite is banana cake. Coconut, carrot, and German chocolate cakes are tied for second place. They do not have it typically in the La Jolla restaurant, but we ordered the lemon blueberry cake for a party (not a flavor I usually go for) and it was one of the best cakes I’ve ever had. Our guests could not stop talking about how moist and flavorful it was.
The cakes also freeze well. I might suggest that you buy a layered cake, pre-slice it into small servings, then freeze it. Grab a slice for yourself when the craving strikes.
Come On In! Cafe For Your Next Party
We hosted a sizable surprise party and ordered the food from Come On In! Cafe. As not to ruin the surprise element, I told Albert exactly when to arrive via our side door, which he did without a hiccup. He set everything up for me quickly and made the entire experience very easy for me. Not to mention, our guests devoured the delicious food.
Come On In! Cafe has a variety of catering tray and salad options. However, I can tell you that your guests are going to go for the Villa Capri, which is penne with mild Italian sausage, red bell pepper and artichoke hearts in a pink tomato sauce. In fact, at our last party, La Jolla Dad lobbied just to order several trays of this. However, I like to add lasagne, fusilli Come On In!, grilled vegetables, Come On In! salad and Caesar salad (sometimes spinach salad, depending on the crowd). The salads are enormous.
