Guest Rooms and Suites at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai
With 196 rooms and 53 suites, Four Seasons Hualalai is large enough to provide ample opportunities for guests but small enough to maintain an intimate atmosphere.
Layouts and amenities vary between the various types of accommodations, but all are designed to promote relaxation.
Guest Rooms
The various guest rooms at Four Seasons Hualalai share similar designs and amenities. All span 635 square feet and can accommodate up to three guests with a king bed, sofa bed, and crib.
The key difference involves the view. Oceanfront and ocean-view rooms are by far the most scenic, although some guests may prefer the convenience of the Poolside Rooms, which provide access to the pools from the back terrace.
Guest room view types (From highest to lowest price point):
- Oceanfront Room
- Ocean-View Deluxe Room
- Prime Ocean-View Room
- Ocean-View Room
- Partial Ocean-View Room
- Poolside Room (lower level in the Seashell and Beach Tree crescents)
- Ocean Golf-View Room
All rooms and suites have a three-person occupancy. They may make an exception for families of four with young children. Get approval before you arrive — we can help.
Accessible versions of the Partial Ocean-View, the Ocean-View, and the Oceanfront rooms are available.
A note about ocean-view golf rooms
These are entry-level rooms, so many people choose them. Don’t get me wrong; they are great. But they do line the golf course. A lot of people don’t realize that paying a little bit extra for Partial Ocean View or Poolside will get you in one of the crescents closer to the pools and main things to do. Scroll down to the map I embedded, and you can see what I mean!
All rooms are stylish, with dark wood trim providing a sophisticated aesthetic. The headboards are particularly lovely, constructed from woven rattan and bamboo.
Other features worth noting include:
- Makana Honua bath amenities incorporate locally sourced ingredients
- Nespresso coffee machines
- Qi botanical tea
- Hawaiian filtered water
- In-room safe
- Cotton yukata robes
- Samsung 65-inch TVs
- Klipsch wireless speakers
Suites
Upscale suites provide ample space, plus high-end amenities that will make you feel pampered for every moment of your stay.
Several of the in-room amenities mentioned above are also included in the villas and suites. These also offer noteworthy upgrades, such as Samsung 75-inch TVs and Bose wireless speakers.
Standard suites include:
- Deluxe Suite Prime Ocean View: This suite occupies 1,441 square feet. With a king bed, a sofa bed, and a crib, it’s meant for up to three guests. Its location on the top floor delivers some of the resort’s best scenery.
- Deluxe Suite Ocean View: Like the Prime Ocean View version, this suite spans 1,441 square feet. It differs, however, in that it can be connected with other rooms to form a two-bedroom accommodation.
- Superior Suite Oceanfront: As the closest suite to the shoreline, this 1,050 square foot space is a natural choice for beach lovers. It includes a king bed, a sofa bed, and a crib. A downstairs edition includes a lava rock shower.
- Superior Suite Prime Ocean View: This 1,050 square foot suite offers tropical vibes for up to three guests. An elevated location produces sweeping vistas, which can be enjoyed when the sliding doors are left open.

Additional comforts can be found in the beautifully designed specialty suites.

- Milo Suite: Couples adore this exclusive suite, which is located near the adults-only pool. Spacious yet intimate, the 1,711 square foot suite has a rainfall shower and the option of a steam sauna.

Dining at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai
Casual and upscale dining opportunities abound at the resort’s restaurants, where you can enjoy a variety of memorable culinary experiences.
Local ingredients and preparation techniques are dominant, although some international influences can also be found. In-room dining is also available 24 hours a day.
Because people tend to stay put on the resort for a week or longer, having multiple dining options is important.
Ulu Ocean Grill
An elevated dining experience awaits at the ULU Ocean Grill, where you’ll be treated to an unforgettable view of the coast. The dominant approach at this restaurant is known as RSA: Regional, Seasonal, and Artisanal.
Contemporary Hawaiian sensibilities are evident in both the decor and the menu, which highlight the natural beauty and flair of the islands. The expertly prepared dishes are wok-fired or flame-grilled, with favorites including Kona cold lobster, a Bento box, and golden pineapple curry.
Residents’ Beach House
As the casual alternative to the ULU Ocean Grill, the Residents’ Beach House maintains laid-back vibes while possessing an exclusive feel. Local cuisine is a clear priority, as evidenced by the extensive use of ingredients originating from the Hawaiian islands.
Treat yourself to gazpacho, shrimp enchiladas, or BBQ jerk chicken. Don’t forget dessert; the mud pie and mousse cake should satisfy anyone with a sweet tooth. As you enjoy a decadent meal or dessert, keep an eye out for whales, which are regularly spotted from this location.
Beach Tree
Designed to feel like a Hawaiian beach house, Beach Tree invites guests to dine on the sand or a beautiful open-air patio near the shoreline. It specializes in Californian-Italian cuisine, featuring staples like chicken Milanese and delectable brick oven pizzas, not to mention a few signature cocktails. Large parties (up to 22 guests) can also take advantage of the Barefoot Table, a family-style dining experience that includes tableside cooking under the night sky.
Beach Tree Bar and Lounge
Boasting a spectacular location mere steps from the pristine water, the Beach Tree Bar and Lounge serves a variety of tropical cocktails, which include everything from pineapple-infused Kuleana Huihui rum to chili-infused Kapena tequila. A few non-alcoholic beverages are also available, as are champagne and wine.
Beach Tree also serves intriguing bar bites, including sautéed mussels and mahi-mahi tacos. Stop by at sunset to enjoy one of the resort’s most noteworthy views.
Miller & Lux Hualalai
Enjoy a lobster tower or Japanese A5 wagyu overlooking the 18th green of the Hualalai Golf Course at Miller & Lux Hualalai (previously known as Hualalai Grille). The sunsets from the open-air patio of the American steakhouse are particularly pretty. There’s also a separate Bar Lounge menu with snacks and delicious beverages, of course.
Hualalai Trading Company
We love grab-and-go options at major resorts. A quick local coffee, snack or sandwich keeps guests fueled without long waits. You can even order takeaway online.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Clients with dietary restrictions (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.) choose Four Seasons Hualalai over other resorts for its varied menus and ability to customize dishes. Some of our clients stay here for this reason alone.

Understanding the resort’s layout will help you envision your vacation. The resort map is below.
Keep in mind that while some offerings (such as cultural center activities) are complimentary, many will require advanced booking and an additional fee.
The Beach and Ocean Swimming
One of our most frequently asked questions is can you swim in the ocean at Four Seasons Hualalai? People hear that the beach is rocky.
Yes, thanks to the Ocean Pool, you can swim. It’s a designated swimming area protected by a lava rock breakwater.
Loungers line all parts of the beach. And, water sports launch from the resort’s beach as well.

Kings Pond — A True Highlight
We need to talk about Kings Pond a bit more because it really adds enormous value to your vacation. It’s not just a swimmable aquarium — guests get to learn about its residence thanks to the adjacent Kumu Kai Marine Center.
Here, onsite marine biologists facilitate interactive, educational experiences at the pond and its touch tanks. Most are complimentary though some can be booked as private experiences like feeding the resident eagle ray.
Kings Pond has a sand bottom and is carved into lava rock. The resort provides snorkeling equipment. If you don’t feel like getting in with the fish, relax in one of the loungers with an upscale bento box from the specially crafted poolside menu.
Hands-on Culinary Classes
The resort offers several learning opportunities for guests, from private mixology lessons to step-by-step classes with Executive Chef Richard Polhemus. However, not all hands-on classes are available year-round, so confirm with the hotel before your stay.
Water Sports
No visit to Hawaii is complete without enjoying the ocean. Your options at Four Seasons Hualalai include outrigger canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding, subwing experiences (it’s like flying underwater), and various tours by boat like snorkeling tours. Water sports lessons are also available with the Alaka’i Nalu team, both for the activities listed above and open-water swimming.
During whale watching season (January – March), you can board their Ribcraft boat to spot humpback whales less than a mile from shore. You’ll even hear them through the boat’s underwater sound system.
Hualalai Golf Course
Enjoy a golfing experience like no other at the resort’s Jack Nicklaus signature course. The 18-hole course meanders for over 7,100 yards through lush scenery, incorporating black lava elements and ocean views along the way. Interested guests can also reserve an unlimited golf package (minimum two-night stay) for two people.
Highlights include:
- A vast driving range with chipping and short-game practice spaces, plus a putting green and multiple sand bunkers.
- A club shop stocked with apparel and golf gear.
- A wide range of PXG rental clubs, including stiff flex steel irons and graphite flex irons.
- Practice opportunities with professionals who provide video analysis and statistics to help golfers of all levels improve dramatically.

Various options allow you to learn directly from marine biologists, from daily fish feeding to exclusive eco-tours. The Ocean Life Exploration and Jr. Marine Biologist programs offer curated experiences for young visitors.
Ka’Upulehu Cultural Center
If the marine biology opportunities described above are any indication, a visit to Four Seasons Hualalai can be as educational as relaxing. This is again evident when you visit the Ka’Upulehu Cultural Center.
Hands-on activities such as lei-making promote a greater appreciation for the many artistic practices and social traditions that have long set Hawaiian communities apart.
Spa and Fitness
As if Hawaii isn’t enough, the resort’s full-service spa feels like its own private tropical oasis. The full-service menu features the latest in skincare technologies and products with local ingredients. You’ll want to arrive early to enjoy the lounging facilities.

Tennis Club
Take your tennis game to the next level with help from the Four Seasons’ meticulous facilities. Enjoy a casual match with loved ones, or train with the experts during one of the resort’s many tennis clinics.
Either way, you will appreciate the Rebound Ace courts, which are strategically cushioned to enhance performance while limiting the potential for injuries.
Two courts are lighted so you can continue to play tennis after the sun goes down. The resort has a total of eight tennis courts, all of which are surrounded by lush greenery.
Fitness Center
From tennis and golf to Pilates or even strolling the resort grounds, it’s tough to spend time at the Four Seasons Hualalai without maintaining at least a moderately active lifestyle.
If you demand even more exercise, however, you can easily get it at the state-of-the-art fitness center, where you’ll find Star Trac treadmills, Peloton bikes, BOGA Fit aqua boards, and more.
Group Fitness
Perhaps you prefer working out in a group setting. You’ll find the motivation you need while attending onsite classes emphasizing physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness.
