It’s funny how bolder jewelry pieces than you’re used to can be the easiest to incorporate. Truth be told, I didn’t forward think how to wear this Lapis Lazuli Station Necklace and Lapis Lazuli & Black Sapphire Ring but it worked well with an outfit I quickly cobbled together from a suitcase.
We were headed to an early breakfast at our Cayman Islands luxury resort. My daughter was so impressed with my ability to quickly accessorize that she took the photo above when I wasn’t paying attention. I think we both credit the jewelry for my attire success.
It is a travel-inspired collection after all.

Real Metals and Gemstones
After thinking about it, I figured out why the outfit worked. I’ve come to terms with the fact that I am less likely to wear jewelry that isn’t made from genuine stones. Sequins, colored glass, and plastics just don’t work for me anymore.

The necklace and ring I chose here are a part of the Lisa Bridge Collection. They have real gemstones—lapis lazuli, to be exact—tastefully accessorized with black sapphires and sterling silver. Lapis lazuli is a semi-precious stone prized for its pretty deep blue color with tiny flecks of gold. I’m a huge fan of it and didn’t think twice about putting it on.
What to Wear with Lapis Lazuli
I am not the world’s greatest packer and often rely on overpacking and a little luck to see me through trips. The resort’s attire policy had me paying a bit more attention to what I wore every day, so I’d brought the Lisa Bridge Collection pieces that I knew I’d feature in these posts.
I put on two of my staples: a white tank top and denim skirt. And, then it occurred to me that the blue of the lapis lazuli matched the dark denim wash of my skirt perfectly. It also wasn’t going to clash with a white shirt. On went the necklace, ring and the Twist Bangle Bracelet in Sterling Silver to complete the look.

If jeans and white t-shirts are staples in your wardrobe, you need the Lapis Lazuli Station Necklace and Lapis Lazuli & Black Sapphire ring. These could so easily be your year-round statement pieces.
What I love about this jewelry is that I can wear it also with a much fancier dress, too, like one that is white, neutral or even blue.

I loved my easy outfit so much that I even took a rare selfie. My iPhone case even matched the ensemble.
Also, I was totally not overdressed for breakfast. I felt good… like I fit in with the rest of the well-dressed guests in residence after putting in likely less effort.

The Meaning of Lapis Lazuli
A few days later, I stumbled upon an article detailing how lapis lazuli is a universal symbol of wisdom and truth. It helps wearers release anger and negative thoughts. Apparently, it also helps create new ideas for inventors writers… I am not making this up! I sometimes forget how gemstones harbor meanings far beyond their beauty. It’s another reason to add more to my accessories collection.
