Earlier in the spring, I attended two events at my favorite store, Neiman Marcus Fashion Valley in San Diego, addressing the 2014 spring and summer trends in designer fashion and the CUSP department. The store’s style advisor Alex Yà¡à±ez (hand-picked by Ken Downing himself) incorporates multiple trends into each look.
If you’re looking to spruce up your wardrobe with a few key pieces, have a look at the backpacks and other colorful handbags as well as the coats the models are wearing above.
Neiman Marcus 2014 Spring and Summer Trends
PINKS: From blush to anything but shy
WHITE WITH BLACK: Partners in style
SHIRT CHIC: Keep cool under the collar
SHORT STORIES: Tops and bottoms get the crop
BACKPACKS: More refined than roughing it
SUMMER BOOTIES: Straps and cutouts keep it cool
LAYERED BRACELETS: All eyes on the wrist
ARTISTIC PRINTS: Build a collection
THE PINK LIP: The color on everyone’s lips
DENIM ON DENIM: Rock the blues from head to toe
My favorite trend is Shirt Chic. I bought the Rebecca Taylor shirt dress in the slideshow above and have been loving it with a chunky Shanghai Tang belt I forget to wear otherwise. Layered bracelets is also a look I’ve been implementing quite a bit lately. If you can pull off short shorts, there are a ton of cute options from denim to leather.
If you don’t feel like shopping, rotate pink back into your wardrobe along with some pink lipstick!
Have you bought a summer statement piece?
