hen families ask for a hotel near SeaWorld San Diego, I often refer them to Paradise Point Resort & Spa because of its ideal waterfront location, lagoons, private beaches on Mission Bay, and long list of family-friendly amenities. To welcome the start of summer, the tropical island resort is offering new bayside dining experiences, island recreation and an exciting summer concert series that San Diego residents can take advantage of, too.
Paradise Point Resort & Spa Restaurants
Whether the occasion calls for a quick bite, a romantic dinner or a casual afternoon of fun in the sun, Paradise Point serves up the perfect waterfront dining option. The resort’s new signature restaurant, Tidal, offers fresh “craft and catch” cuisine, artfully selected for the summer season and inspired by the water’s changing tides. Barefoot Bar & Grill, a casual venue (pictured above) that honors Paradise Point’s island roots, is a local favorite for its laid-back atmosphere and panoramic views of Mission Bay.
Go Ahead and Pull Up Your Boat
The most unique feature of dining in paradise is the ability to access the resort’s restaurants by boat. Paradise Point’s private, full-service marina offers the opportunity for guests to spend the day on the water before docking free of charge for a beachfront bite – a seamless “dock and dine” experience.
Or, Hop On Board a Scenic Bay Cruise
Those who would rather not helm their own vessel can still enjoy a day on the bay by hopping aboard the resort’s Scenic Bay Cruise. Offered now through Labor Day, this 60-minute boat tour of Mission Bay delivers striking views of the Pacific Ocean, SeaWorld, Fiesta Island and the downtown San Diego skyline. For a more hands-on experience, Paradise Point’s marina is offering a variety of summer watersports including jet skiing, kayaking, wakeboarding and stand-up paddleboarding.
Paradise Point’s Sunday Fun Day Summer Concerts
As the sun heats up over the shimmering waters of Mission Bay, so does the energy during Paradise Point’s Sunday Fun Day Summer Concert Series. Hosted on the waterfront outdoor patio of the Barefoot Bar & Grill, the summer afternoon concert series will feature live music by San Diego’s favorite rock cover bands, local brews and island-inspired signature cocktails. Running Sundays from noon to 4:00pm, now through September 28, this ideal summer experience offers the chance to sing along, dance or just relax with live music amidst San Diego’s cool breezes, tranquil waters and soft sandy beaches.
SeaWorld Water Taxi
Here is a fun selling point for kids. Forget parking (which can be a little bit of a hassle, at times). Pick up tickets to SeaWorld San Diego at Paradise Point’s Island Market and hop on the resort’s SeaWorld water taxi, operational between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The journey takes about 15 minutes and also allows guests to enter through a VIP gate. During Sundays in July and August, costume characters provide a special dockside welcome just for Paradise Point guests. Cost is $10 for adults and $6 for kids, round trip.
Most of all, enjoy your visit to one of San Diego’s best family hotels!
