Important Tips for Visiting Raging Waters

It’s best to arrive early because the park fills up fast and can get crowded during the day. I suggest bringing plenty of sunscreen, a sun hat, sunglasses, and any other protection you need because you’ll get a lot of UV exposure throughout the day.

It’s also important to ensure your little ones have all the sun protection they need. Sun-protective bathing suits are especially great for kids and toddlers.

The best time to visit is during the week, usually Tuesday or Wednesday. Weekends will always be the most hectic, so plan ahead by studying the park map to choose which rides you want to visit first if you’re going on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

A good way to save money on food is to pack lunch in a cooler, leave it in your car, and then pop out to eat before returning to the park for the rest of the day. Leave your valuables in a locker ($15-25 fee) to avoid accidentally taking your phone or keys with you for a ride down the waterslide.

Raging Waters Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have to wear a bathing suit at Raging Waters?

Proper swimwear is required for all rides, attractions, and water-based activities. However, you can change into regular clothes to walk around the park.

Do you need water shoes at Raging Waters?

You don’t have to, but water shoes are highly recommended. They’re the only shoes you can wear on attractions, and you won’t have to leave them unattended before getting on a ride. Plus, flip-flops can be hazardous around water and wet surfaces.

Also, since the waterslide stairs tend to be scorching hot, water shoes can protect you and the kids’ feet as you climb.

Is Raging Waters the biggest waterpark?

No, that title goes to Noah’s Ark Waterpark in Lake Dell, Wisconsin, but Raging Waters is still a huge water park — the biggest one in California!

Do you need to bring your own towels to raging waters?

You’ll need to bring your own towels to Raging Waters. If you forget them or just realize you need more, the Beach Shop or Surf and Swim can help you buy one.

Does Raging Waters have lifeguards?

More than 250 trained and licensed lifeguards are always stationed throughout the park, so you don’t need to worry about safety.

However, you should still practice good water safety and supervise your children, especially if they are weak swimmers. Never leave children unattended in the water, even if they can swim.

Is Raging Waters bigger than Soak City?

Raging Waters is considerably bigger than Soak City, spanning 60 acres compared to 15. Raging Waters has 35 water slides; Soak City has 16. There are also 14 pools throughout Raging Waters, compared to 14 in Soak City.

Both are great parks with plenty of attractions, thrill rides, and kids’ areas, but Raging Waters takes the cake regarding size and opportunities.

Are there free life jackets at Raging Waters?

All guests under 48 inches tall must wear a life jacket in the wave pool. You can find free life jackets throughout the park or bring your own, as long as they bear Coast Guard approval.

What do I need to know before going to Raging Waters?

First aid is on-site next to the Speed Sliders. If you’re traveling with toddlers, Kid’s Kingdom is the perfect place for them to splash and have fun in a safe environment. The park’s entrance is only off Via Verde; general and preferred parking are available for a fee.
