Tucked away in the hills of Mexico just minutes from the Tecate border is the famous destination fitness resort and spa, Rancho La Puerta. Celebrities and people in-the-know swear by the positive mental and physical changes experienced during their week-stay that lasted well after returning home. I didn’t understand completely until I experienced the award-winning program myself last summer.

Rancho La Puerta Special Juice Cleanse Program

In August, guests can reserve a spot for a week of inner scrubbing during a special juice cleanse program offered during the weeks of August 10 and August 17.

Our bodies can become easily overwhelmed by poor diet, nutritional deficiencies, chronic stress and exposure to environmental toxins. A periodic cleanse helps activate the body’s natural detox mechanisms.

Will I Drink Juice For A Week?

No. On Saturday and Sunday, guests will eat from the Pure and Simple diet. They’ll drink fresh juices from Monday through Thursday and then resume eating on Friday and Saturday. Guests will return home prepared with a Cleanse Support Box that includes herbal teas and supplements to help the body continue to detox post-cleanse.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 head romaine or leaf lettuce
  • 1 medium green apple
  • 1 leaf of kale
  • 1 small bok choy
  • 4 inner leaves of beet greens
  • 1 stalk of celery
  • 2 sprigs of parsley
  • 1/2 cucumbers
  • 1/2 lemon with peel

Instructions

  1. Use a juicer to juice all items and then stir.

These are a few vegetables we think are key to include on a regular basis for health benefits. Always remember to pick things that are in season. This is when the vegetables are at their prime and the cost is the lowest.”

  • cruciferous vegetables
  • bok choy
  • cabbage
  • broccoli
  • cauliflower
  • greens: kale, spinach, collard greens, chard, celery, young radish greens, and a variety of lettuces
  • herbs and spices: garlic, ginger, cinnamon, ginseng, cayenne pepper, parsley, mint and basil

    I always add ginger to my juices for the aromatic quality it brings, but now I’m wondering if the bok choy plus a little ginger and ginseng will give the humble green juice a more Eastern spin…

  4. Is there any substitute for bok choy, It is not usually available where I live. I think this can be a great detox drink.
