Easy 7 Layer Dip Recipe

As long as the dip has the avocado and sour cream/taco mix layer, cheeses and toppings can be added on in amounts that are customized to your liking.

Ingredients

  • 3-4 medium ripe avocados
  • 3 seeded roma tomatoes chopped
  • 3 green onions chopped
  • 1 small can of sliced olives
  • 1 cup of sour cream I use light and plain Greek yogurt can work, too
  • 1 packet of taco seasoning Lawry's is best
  • 1 cup of cheddar cheese grated
  • 1 cup of pepper jack cheese grated
  • Tapatio sauce or similar picante sauce optional

Method

  1. Chop and prep the ingredients as directed above.
  2. Mix the entire packet of taco seasoning into the sour cream.
  3. Get a lipped serving platter (mine is about 15" x 10") and smash the avocados directly on to it.
  4. Spread the avocado on the platter evenly.
  5. Next, layer the sour cream mixture on top of the avocado.
  6. Sprinkle the cheeses on top of the sour cream mixture.
  7. Sprinkle the tomatoes, olives and green onions on top of the cheeses.
  8. Add a few dashes of picante sauce on top.
  9. Serve with tortilla chips.

Notes

I take the seeds out of the roma tomatoes just because they tend to be watery but you can leave them in if you like. If you cover the avocado with the other toppings well, this can be made a few hours in advance of serving and stored in the fridge.
