La Jolla Dad and I drink a lot of wine. So do our friends. I originally wanted to talk about wines under $15, but I felt limited. So now the NEW goal of wine Wednesday is to talk about wine and anything wine related. I’ll try to always mention one wine each Wednesday that’s under $15 that can be bought around town.
La Jolla Dad and I are not experts and we aren’t compensated for this. Occasionally we receive a complimentary bottle of wine to review. This doesn’t affect what we say at all because, trust me, we can and do buy our own wine. Please keep in mind that complimentary bottles of terrible wine aren’t typically sent out for a public review.
We haven’t had a bad one yet, but you’ll know when we do. This process opens our eyes (and hopefully yours) up to wines we might not normally try. These reviews are my favorite part of the week, most of the time.
There will be no advanced wine talk (like tannins, etc) unless it’s in the winemakers notes. You probably will disagree with a lot we have to say but this is supposed to be a fun exercise so that’s completely ok and let’s face it, if it’s under $15, it’s inexpensive wine we’re dealing with. Keep your expectations in check.
The rating system goes from
to
and we’ll usually add a comment following the rating such as:
Leave it on the shelf or cook with it if it’s cheap enough
Drink it at home, but not with guests
Good, but may or may not buy again
Excellent, serve to guests
Extraordinary
Who says you can’t drink mid week?
