Certain San Diego hotels can be booked with my benefits directly through my Virtuoso page (links to each San Diego hotel are below), while we need to generate quotes for others manually.
Please read the extra guidance under each hotel mentioned below. This will give you a better idea of what may or may not fit into your budget. I’ve included insider advice and time-saving shortcuts where applicable. We also do not schedule phone consultations to keep this service free for you.
Hotels You Can Price and Book Online Now With My Perks
It is much faster to book online through Virtuoso.com when you can (I’ll see the reservation and follow up with you), as it may take 24-72 hours for us to return a manual quote due to our volume.
Location: Coronado
The resort is much improved thanks to a multi-year renovation!
The Virtuoso rate is usually a few dollars less than the Hilton Honors rate (you’ll need to create a Virtuoso account and log in to see this price). You will earn Hilton Honors points. The Virtuoso amenities that I can add to your stay include:
- Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability
- Daily breakfast credit of $45 per person, for up to two guests per bedroom, served in Serẽa restaurant (credit is non-cumulative, restrictions if applicable)
- $100 USD Food & Beverage credit to be utilized during stay (not combinable, not valid on room rate, no cash value if not redeemed in full)
- Early Check-In / Late Check-Out, subject to availability
- Complimentary Wi-Fi
Sign in or create a free Virtuoso account to see the discounted rate! When booking on Virtuoso.com use the number of adults traveling to get the correct rates. Kids may otherwise be priced as adults. We will add them after we follow up to collect your arrival details. If you see multiple rates for the same room type, choose the lowest rate. Check the status of ocean swimming in front of Coronado Lifeguard Tower as it changes. This is the testing station in front of Hotel del Coronado.
Beach Village at The Del and Shore House at The Del are the resort’s luxury enclaves that are off-limits to the public and even main resort guests. Each is booked separately (links are below).
For more information, read my detailed guide to Hotel del Coronado.
Location: Coronado
Beach Village at The Del is the luxury enclave at Hotel del Coronado. Beach Village guests have access to everything on the main resort, but main resort guests do not have access to Beach Village or its amenities.
Beach Village has its own pools in addition to complimentary beach chairs and umbrellas (not an insignificant benefit).
Accommodations here are outfitted like designer residences, and you will receive an elevated level of service.
During off-peak season, expect to pay no less than $999/night for the starting accommodations (Coastal View Villa Room). During the summer/school holidays peak season, expect to pay around $1500-1900/night at a minimum.
There are just over 70 accommodations here, so book ASAP to avoid disappointment. It helps to get an idea of pricing before requesting rates.
Beach Village at The Del is its own hotel within Hotel del Coronado, and you can get a feel for rates on Hilton.com. Plus, you receive the same Virtuoso amenities as Hotel del Coronado.
- Upgrade is not applicable at this property
- Daily full breakfast for up to two guests per bedroom at Ocean Concierge Club
- $100 USD Food & Beverage credit to be utilized during stay (not combinable, not valid on room rate, no cash value if not redeemed in full)
- Early check-in / Late check-out, subject to availability
- Complimentary Wi-Fi
- Beach Village Virtuoso guests have all-day access to Ocean Concierge Club. Services outside of the daily breakfast for two are paid for a la carte. This is way better value than the daily rate that all-day guests have to pay!
Sign in to your free Virtuoso account to see the discounted rate. When booking on Virtuoso.com, use the number of adults traveling to get the correct rates. Kids may otherwise be priced as adults. We will add them after we follow up to collect your arrival details. If you see multiple rates, choose the lowest one.

Location: Coronado
Shore House at The Del is the new luxury enclave at Hotel del Coronado. Shore House guests have access to everything on the main resort, but main resort guests do not have access to Shore House or its amenities.
You’ll find just over 70 one-, two-, and three-bedroom residences with full kitchens decorated in a more contemporary design than you’ll find in Beach Village.
Shore House at The Del is booked separately as its own hotel within Hotel del Coronado and you can get a feel for rates on Hilton.com. Plus, you receive the same Virtuoso amenities as Hotel del Coronado.
- Upgrade not applicable at this property
- Daily Buffet Breakfast for up to two guests per bedroom, served in Shore House Bistro
- $100 USD Food & Beverage credit to be utilized during stay (not combinable, not valid on room rate, no cash value if not redeemed in full)

Occasionally, you might see rates on Fairmont.com that look more advantageous than Virtuoso. All-in they’re usually not (or perhaps some magic can be worked to make them on par). In that case, use the form below.

Location: La Jolla (near UCSD)
Here is another place that I adore, and so do my clients. I have a lot of repeat guests here, and if you golf, this is the place to stay because they can very likely secure tee times at Torrey Pines and have relationships with other clubs around town (a great way to play some members-only courses).
When you log into Virtuoso (or create an account if it’s your first visit), you’ll see that the Virtuoso rate for this property is lower (by about 10-16% depending on the date from what I can tell) than what you would otherwise receive booking their Best Available Rate directly. Plus, you receive the following Virtuoso amenities:
- Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability
- Daily breakfast for two per bedroom (up to $70 credit per day)
- $100 USD equivalent Resort or Hotel credit to be utilized during stay (not combinable, not valid on room rate, no cash value if not redeemed in full)
- Early Check-In / Late Check-Out, subject to availability
You must be logged in to Virtuoso.com to see the discounted rate for The Lodge at Torrey Pines.

Location: Rancho Santa Fe
This is one of our nicest resorts, if not the nicest, especially if you’re looking for a wellness-centric vacation or staycation. It’s a Relais & Chateaux property (which means the food is also excellent).
It’s an all-suite resort, but to have a truly separated living room from the bedroom, go with the Palm Suites and higher.
You can book Rancho Valencia Resort with the following Virtuoso amenities:
- Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability
- Daily full breakfast for two guests per bedroom (maximum $40 credit per person)
- $100 USD Resort/Hotel credit, (Not valid in Sheridan, the resort’s boutique. Not combinable, not valid on room rate, no cash value if not redeemed in full)
- Early check-in/late check-out, subject to availability
- Complimentary Wi-Fi
When booking on Virtuoso.com use only the number of adults traveling to get the correct rates. Kids may otherwise be priced as adults. We will add them after we follow up to collect your arrival details.

Location: Downtown San Diego
If you’re looking for a luxury urban boutique hotel, Pendry San Diego is the best choice. Their customer service is fantastic on my end and on your end — they will take great care of you.
It is family-friendly. However, the pool can have a party scene on the weekends that families should be aware of before booking in.
The Virtuoso amenities you have access to include:
- Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability
- Breakfast credit at Provisional Restaurant or In-Room Dining for two guests per bedroom daily ($30 maximum per person, per day)
- $100 USD Resort or Hotel credit to be utilized during stay (not combinable, not valid on room rate, no cash value if not redeemed in full)
- Early check-in/late check-out, subject to availability
- Complimentary Wi-Fi
For more information, read my full Pendry San Diego review.
Location: Downtown San Diego
Here’s a historic hotel in downtown San Diego that prices well for what you get. Part of the reason is that they don’t have a swimming pool or full-service spa, but most travelers won’t miss either one.
Virtuoso amenities you have access to include:
- Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability
- Full breakfast daily for two guests per bedroom in The Grant Grill or via room service (maximum value of $60 per day)
- $100 USD Food & Beverage credit to be utilized during stay (not combinable, no cash value if not redeemed in full, available in the Grant Grill or via room service only)
- Early check-in/late check-out, subject to availability
- Complimentary Wi-Fi

I’ll Need to Quote These Hotels For You
There are some hotels where I have benefits that I’ll need to quote for you manually. We try to respond immediately, but it can take 24-72 business hours, depending on the level of complexity.
To help save time, please read the valuable information in the drop-downs below that may help you determine which room, rate, or place to stay is right for you.
Location: Carlsbad
The best way to book ANY Four Seasons hotel is through the Four Seasons Preferred Partner program that you can access through me. Benefits include:
- $75 Daily breakfast credit
- One-time resort credit: $100 for Superior King Guest Rooms, $200 for One Bedroom Villas, $300 for Two Bedroom Villas
- Upgrade of one category, based on availability at time of check-in (excluding signature suites, villas, and private residences)
- Complimentary basic Internet in all guest rooms; complimentary premium Internet in all suites
- Welcome note at check-in acknowledging you and your travel agency and the amenities that are being extended
The only guest room is a Superior King, which has a king bed and a sofa bed (no two queen rooms). The other accommodations are one-bedroom villas. A two-bedroom villa can be created to sleep 8 — if you need this, let me know.
The general rule of thumb is that any room rate you see on fourseasons.com can have Preferred Partner benefits applied to it. There are also occasionally Preferred Partner promotions that are even better.
This resort is extremely popular right now thanks to its layout, self-parking, in-villa kitchens, and five-star service. It is sold out on many weekends through the summer. You may want to check fourseasons.com to see if it’s available. If it’s not, my next suggestion, which is also an excellent one, is Park Hyatt Aviara next door.
With this hotel, some people find my information after they already have a reservation. If you booked it through FourSeasons.com, send it to me, and I will see if they can add on the benefits to the reservation you already have (same with other Four Seasons properties).
For more information, read my full Four Seasons Aviara review.
Location: Encinitas
Alila Marea Resort Encinitas is a brand new beachfront boutique hotel on the cliffs overlooking the beach near South Ponto Beach. It’s beautiful with fire pit rooms. (Note that the pool is tiny.)
Hyatt Prive benefits are added to Hyatt’s Standard Rate or deeper sale rates like 3rd night free (which you can check here). The benefits include:
- Daily breakfast for 2 in Vaga (value at $30/person plus tax and gratuity)
- A $150 property credit
- A welcome amenity
- Upgrade at time of booking, subject to availability
- Early check-in & late check-out, subject to availability
I haven’t stayed there yet, but you can read my Alila Marea Resort profile, which I will update after my stay is complete.
Location: Downtown San Diego
This is a really neat boutique hotel. Note the room sizes and locations (lower floors can have a little street noise like any urban hotel).

- Chef’s welcome amenity
- VIP status granted
- Early check-in/late check-out, subject to availability

Use the form below!
San Diego Hotel Request Form
I’m thrilled to help you find the best San Diego hotel for your vacation — a few ground rules to note first!
- This form is intended to be used by people who know which hotel listed above they prefer to stay at or those who need help with making a final selection (I’m good at this) after narrowing options down to two or three.
- This form is not intended to solicit rates at all hotels that I have benefits at. (I wish we had the time to process these requests, but we do not.)
- We can add benefits like hotel credits, breakfast, and upgrades to your stay at no extra cost and sometimes offer preferential pricing, but please have an idea of your desired hotel’s price range. You can check your dates and preferred room types on hotel websites, which dramatically expedites our response time.
- Please be familiar with and agree to how we work.
Hotels in My Network That Are Temporarily Unavailable for Rate Requests
I am finding that people who ask for hotel rates at the below hotels usually book through sites like hotels.com. This is because they would rather pay a lower room rate, no matter what, than one that includes extra perks that add far greater value.
Therefore, we are not quoting the hotels below until we catch up on rate requests.
Location: Mission Bay (20-minute walk to Mission Beach)
Hyatt Regency Mission Bay is located on Mission Bay but does not have a bay beach. It does have a great pool deck, though, with three waterslides (kids must be 42″ tall to ride them).
The Hyatt Prive benefits I can add to Hyatt’s Standard Rate (you can check this online) apply to stays of two nights or longer and include:
- $100 USD Property Credit
- Room Upgrade*
- Breakfast for Two
- Welcome Amenity
- Guest Welcome Letter
- Early Check-In*
- Connecting Rooms*
- Free Wifi
* Subject to forecasted occupancy. The room upgrade happens 24 hours after booking if it is available. A frequently asked question about this hotel that I receive is whether the $100 credit can be used for parking. The answer is no.
The Hyatt Prive rate is the same as Hyatt’s standard rate. Hyatt Prive benefits can not be added to Hyatt’s promotional rates.
For more information, read my Hyatt Regency Mission Bay review.
NOTE: Temporarily unavailable. Book using Omni sale rates or hotels.com.
Location: La Costa (Carlsbad)
Reservations: Omni La Costa Resort & Spa often has sale rates available directly through Omni. If you check rates with them and Best Available Rate works for you, I can add Travel Leaders Select benefits that include:
- $100 Resort credit per stay
- Complimentary full breakfast for two at VUE (this temporarily is grab-and-go at Marketplace)
- Early check-in and late check-out (subject to availability)
- Room upgrade at time of check-in (subject to availability)
For more information, read my full Omni La Costa review.
NOTE: Temporarily unavailable. Book using sale rates or hotels.com.
Location: Mission Bay
This resort used to be Hilton San Diego Resort, but it was taken over by Noble House who updated the rooms and dining experiences.
For stays of one or two nights, the Noble SELECT VIP rate that I have access to is the best way to book. These benefits are added to the resort’s Best Flexible Rate, which you can check online.
- $25 Resort credit for one night stays and $50 resort credit for two night or longer stays
- Waived resort fee
- Upgrade at the time of check-in (subject to availability)
- Welcome amenity
For more information, read my San Diego Mission Bay Resort review.
TIP: I get a lot of requests for San Diego Mission Bay Resort from people who meant to request Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Resort. Be sure to note the differences between the two so that you request rates for the correct resort.
