Important Tips for Visiting Kennedy Space Center
Are you visiting Kennedy Space Center for the first time? These tips will help you plan your day, avoid surprises, and maximize your experience.

General Admission Includes
Download the App Before You Go
The official Kennedy Space Center app helps you navigate the complex, view daily schedules, check wait times, and plan your route between Mission Zones. It’s especially helpful on busy days or for first-time visitors.
Know What to Expect Size-Wise
The Visitor Complex is larger than many guests anticipate. It’s spread across a portion of NASA’s massive 144,000-acre Merritt Island facility. Wear comfortable shoes, and plan to spend a full day.
Plan for Parking
Most guests drive to the attraction. Current parking rates are:
- $5 for motorcycles
- $15 for standard vehicles
- $20 for RVs and oversized vehicles
Complimentary parking is included with annual passes.
Use the Mission Zones to Navigate
Exhibits are grouped into Mission Zones, making it easier to navigate thematically and chronologically. Zones include Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, and more. Use these as a guide to structure your visit.
Consider Add-Ons for a Deeper Experience
Beyond what’s included with general admission, Kennedy Space Center offers upgraded experiences like:
- Chat With an Astronaut – Small-group Q&A with a real NASA astronaut, plus refreshments and keepsakes.
- KSC Explore Tour – A more in-depth, expert-led bus tour with special photo stops.
- Astronaut Training Experience (ATX) – A hands-on simulator experience designed for ages 10+.
- Guided Walking Tour – A three-hour expert-led walkthrough with extra insights and a souvenir.
Explore Family-Friendly Extras
- Cosmic Quest Badge – Originally introduced in 2016, the Cosmic Quest Badge was a STEM-based scavenger hunt in which kids (and curious adults) completed hands-on missions such as launching a rocket or navigating Mars. While availability may vary today, it’s worth asking about the program when planning a visit.
- AstroPass – A $19.99 digital photo package that collects all your attraction photos in one place for easy download and sharing.
Kennedy Space Center Discount Tickets & More FAQ

Do you have to make reservations for Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, or can you buy tickets at the gate?
You can buy Kennedy Space Center tickets online or at the gate. If you purchase directly, you will choose a date to visit. Some authorized ticket sellers sell good-any-day tickets that don’t require you to choose a specific date.
Do Kennedy Space Center tickets sell out?
It’s a pretty big place, so while, of course, there is a maximum capacity, it rarely sells out. Tours, however, do sell out, so if you’re interested in a specific ticket add-on or tour, you’ll want to purchase it as soon as possible.
Can I see an actual rocket launch?
You’ll get a heads-up about rocket launches and other special events if you’re a member. However, the Visitor Complex is the best place for the public to see a rocket launch from Cape Canaveral when they occur.
If one is happening on the day of your visit, just be aware that some of the attractions in the Visitor Complex might not be open.
What about Sam’s Club discounts?
Right now, the Sam’s Club discount is up to 25% off. If you are a member, this is a great discount!
