Four Seasons Oahu Review: Which Room to Book, With VIP Benefits

I stayed in an Oceanfront King facing the lagoon and have toured many of the rooms and suites. Here is what each one is like up close, and who this resort suits best.

The view of the pool and lagoon from my Oceanfront King room at Four Seasons Oahu.

Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina is the brand’s only property on the island. Of all its hotels, I’ve booked this one the most in 2026. Most clients come to me already wanting to stay here, and its starting rates are often more accessible than those at the other Hawaii FS resorts.

I lived at Four Seasons Hong Kong for nearly five years, so I know what a stay with the brand should feel like. I’ve checked in here myself, toured most rooms and suites in person, and booked nearly every category for clients. This Four Seasons Oahu review draws on my extensive firsthand experience and client feedback to explain what to expect, including the location next to Disney’s Aulani and how to choose the right room.

What I Love

  • Guest rooms are big, averaging 640 square feet, and most categories have connecting options.
  • The Club Lounge is the largest in the Four Seasons global portfolio.
  • Service is the first thing my clients bring up when they get home.
  • The protected lagoon is calm enough for toddlers, with chairs, umbrellas, and food service on the sand.
  • Camp Kohola is the largest kids’ club I have seen at a Four Seasons in Hawaii.
  • Mina’s Fish House and the La Hiki breakfast buffet are reasons on their own to stay here.
  • The team at this resort takes excellent care of my Four Seasons Preferred Partner guests.

Good to Know

  • The lagoon is shared with Aulani, but each resort has its own beach area.
  • Some rooms face Aulani, so choosing the right view matters.
  • The lagoon is calm, with no waves for surfing.
  • Morning light gets past the shutters, so light sleepers should ask for an eye mask.
  • Most rooms sleep three adults, or two adults and two children, and a few sleep fewer.
  • This is a lively, family-friendly resort with robust amenities and a compact footprint, not a secluded Hawaiian retreat.

My Stay at Four Seasons Oahu

My most recent stay was in an Oceanfront King over Labor Day weekend, in a room facing the lagoon. I have also toured many of the rooms and suites with the resort’s team and booked nearly every category for clients.

  • Bedroom interior of an Oceanfront room.
Really big interior with sofa bed.
  • The enormous standard marble bathroom at Four Seasons Oahu
    The bathroom is huge.
  • The coffee station in rooms at Four Seasons Oahu with lots of empty storage.
    Lots of storage everywhere.

The lanai is the reason to book an Oceanfront Room. The view is unobstructed, and in-room dining runs around the clock, so you could and should enjoy a meal on it. I used my lanai more at this hotel than I ever have anywhere.

My room looked across the lagoon to Aulani’s beach. I had wondered whether that would bother me, and it did not. What you see is a strip of sand with people on it, and Disney’s pools and slides sit behind the building, out of the picture.

The bathroom is large, there is storage everywhere, and I liked the bar area with its drawers and open fridge space. Couples book this room, and I put plenty of families in it. There is a Club version if you want the lounge with the same view.

The plantation shutters close tightly and still let in more morning light than I wanted. I had forgotten my eye mask, so I asked for one through the Four Seasons app, and it arrived in about ten minutes.

Labor Day should have been one of the busiest weekends of the year, and the crowd split evenly between the pools and the beach, so neither felt full. I took the long way past the koi pond and through the gardens most mornings.

One lesson from the trip was a razor I bought in a resort boutique without checking the price. I paid about ten times what it should cost, so for anything you forgot, walk over to Island Country Markets in Ko Olina Center.

The Best Four Seasons Oahu Rooms and Suites (and How to Choose)

I spend more time helping clients choose accommodations here than at almost any other resort I book. The differences between room categories aren’t always obvious online, particularly when it comes to views toward Aulani, connecting rooms, bedding arrangements, and Club Lounge access.

My Quick Room Picks

A note about bedding

A room may look large enough for an additional bed or crib, but that doesn’t mean it can accommodate another guest, because maximum occupancy is often set by local fire codes.

In king rooms with a sofa bed, one child can sleep on the sofa bed and another in a Pack ’n Play. There isn’t room for a full-size crib when the sofa bed is open. This arrangement is for families of two adults and two children.

This is the category I stay in and book most. These rooms are on floors 4–15, facing either Aulani’s beach or the quieter coastline. I can request a side, subject to availability, and Preferred Partner guests take priority. The Preferred Partner upgrade from here, if available, is the Prime Corner Oceanfront Room, though that upgrade doesn’t work for a family of four.

Suites

A Studio Suite is one generous room; a one-bedroom suite gives you a door between the bedroom and living area. Neither automatically permits a larger party.

Connecting Rooms and Suites at Four Seasons Oahu

Yes, Four Seasons Oahu offers connecting rooms, including arrangements that create two- and three-bedroom accommodations. Here are the nine configurations I’ve worked with.

The shared vestibule outside two connecting rooms at Four Seasons Oahu

Most arrangements are outer-connecting: the rooms open into a shared private vestibule with another door to the hallway. I’ve stayed in this configuration, and it works particularly well for families who want separate bedrooms and bathrooms.

These pairings require specific connecting inventory and hotel confirmation. The two- and three-bedroom Oceanfront arrangements combine the Oceanfront One-Bedroom Suite with guest rooms. Two standard Resort Rooms do not connect to each other, but we can request them side by side. Garden View connecting inventory is limited.

The Dining

Dining at Four Seasons Oahu: Eight Restaurants and Bars

From a proper dinner at Mina’s Fish House to coffee before the pool, dining here is one of the resort’s strengths. La Hiki is where I go for breakfast.

Before you arrive

Book Noe first, then Mina’s, as soon as your stay is confirmed, especially in peak season and for a party larger than two. The early tables go first, and waiting can mean eating at eight with children who have been in the sun since nine that morning.

Seafood · Dinner

Mina’s Fish House

  • Tableside Michael’s tuna tartare at Mina’s Fish House.
They “toss” Michael’s tuna tartare tableside. It’s outstanding.
  • King crab endive Caesar at Mina’s Fish House
    King crab endive Caesar salad
  • Malasadas on a plate with caramel sauce and guava gel.
A staff favorite – malasadas with caramel sauce and strawberry guava gel

Mina’s Fish House, chef Michael Mina’s seafood restaurant, is my favorite at the resort and the meal my clients talk about most when they get home. On my visit the tuna tartare was tossed at the table, and the dish is worth the small performance. It is still on the menu, which changes, and I would not skip it. I also had the king crab endive Caesar and the malasadas, and the lobster pot pie is another signature.

I tell clients to eat here even when they are staying at Aulani. Mina’s Beach Club, its casual spot on the sand, is the easy version of the same kitchen.

Breakfast · Lunch

La Hiki

  • Bao and fried rice at the breakfast buffet.
The buffet’s Asian dishes: bao, fried rice, and more
  • Assorted baked goods at the breakfast buffet.
  • Row of hot dishes at the breakfast buffet.
  • Fruit and charcuterie at the breakfast buffet.

La Hiki is the resort’s open-air restaurant, and the buffet is the reason to come, with Asian dishes, local fruit, made-to-order omelets, fresh poke, and far more than anyone can eat. I have worked my way through a lot of Four Seasons breakfast buffets, and this one holds its own against all of them.

Preferred Partner guests get daily breakfast for two here, the full buffet included, or through room service. Gratuity is additional.

Southern Italian · Dinner

Noe

Noe is the resort’s Southern Italian restaurant, with handmade pasta in a garden setting that goes quietly romantic once the light drops. The truffle tagliatelle is the dish guests name year after year, and there is a children’s menu, which is rare at this level. It is also the hardest table on the property to get.

More Places to Eat and Drink

For drinks, casual meals, and time between the pool and dinner.

Mānalo Lounge (Manalo)

Mānalo serves Asian-fusion dishes and sushi at the water’s edge in the evening. Guests recommend the truffle gyoza and bao. I have not eaten there yet, and it is the first reservation I will make next time.

This is the rooftop bar, open on select evenings. The resort faces west, so go before sunset.

Waterman Bar

This is the casual bar beside the Ohana Pool, where nobody minds a swimsuit. The menu is short, so go for a drink between swims.

Dr. Mai Tai’s

This is the swim-up bar at the adults-only pool. The pours are lighter than at the restaurant bars.

Coffee · Grab and go

Hokulea

Grab-and-go coffee and snacks at Hokulea.
I regret not trying the ube parfait.

Hokulea is the coffee bar off the lobby, for mornings you want to get to the pool fast. The spam musubi is very good, and the prices are what you would expect at a resort coffee bar.

Poolside and In-Room Dining

In-room dining runs 24 hours, which covers breakfast in bed, dinner on the lanai, and the night everyone is sunburned and done. At the pool, ask for the in-room dining menu if the poolside card is too short.

The Resort

Pools, Beach, Kids Club, and Spa

Four Seasons Oahu has four swimming pools, from the Keiki Pool for small children to an adults-only infinity pool facing the ocean, along with a calm saltwater lagoon. The resort also has a free kids’ club and a large spa.

Four Seasons Oahu Swimming Pools

Adult pool at Four Seasons Oahu
This is the adult pool area.
  • Keiki Pool. Closest to the lagoon, and where small children end up.
  • Ohana Pool. At the center of the resort, and the default for families with older kids.
  • Adults-Only Infinity Pool. The quietest place on the property, facing the ocean, with Dr. Mai Tai’s swim-up bar.
  • Spa & Wellness Pool. The lap pool at the spa.

Sunscreen is stocked free at each pool, staff come around with water and light snacks, and cabanas sell out on busy days, so book one before you arrive.

Beach and Lagoon

The lagoon is man-made and protected by rock breakwaters, so there are no waves. It is essentially a giant saltwater pool with soft sand, which is why so many families I work with choose this resort for young children. Chairs and umbrellas are set up for you, food and drinks come to your spot, and paddleboards and snorkel sets are free at the beach kiosk.

Aulani guests share the water. Each resort keeps its own stretch of sand, separated by a rope line, and the difference is easy to see: Aulani’s chairs are packed tight, and the Four Seasons keeps its chairs spaced out. Holiday weeks are the busiest, when Aulani is full.

Guided excursions carry a fee, from snorkel sails to outrigger canoes and scuba. Since the lagoon has no surf, the resort runs the Nalu Surf Experience with professional surfer Kekoa Cazimero at The LineUp at Wai Kai nearby. Pack pool toys in your checked bag, because dive rings and floats keep children busy for hours in water this calm, and the resort shops do not sell them at a reasonable price.

Camp Kohola Kids Club

Craft area in the kids’ club with a TV, games, and colorful decor.
I took a photo of a spot without kids, but note that there are multiple rooms here—it’s huge.

Camp Kohola at The Hideaway is the resort’s free kids’ club for ages 5 to 12, open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. My daughter has been through a lot of Four Seasons kids’ clubs. I have been inside this one, and it is the largest I have seen at a Four Seasons in Hawaii, with separate rooms for different ages.

Bring proof of age for a five-year-old, because they check at the first drop-off, and a passport or birth certificate photo on your phone is enough.

The evening programs are worth planning around. Camp Kohola After Dark, Keiki Glamping, and Pastries and Painting all take reservations, which is how parents get a dinner at Noe. Older kids have a teen game room, and Camp Manitou runs in some seasons for ages 9 to 17. For children under five, ask the concierge about babysitting.

Naupaka Spa

Spa at Four Seasons Oahu lounge area with snacks
I love a good spa lounge.

The Naupaka Spa & Wellness Centre covers 35,000 square feet, with outdoor hales for traditional Hawaiian treatments and a hair and nail salon. I had a 50-minute massage and wished I had given myself longer, not on the table but before it. Arrive at least an hour early for the wet rooms and relaxation areas, because that hour is most of what you are paying for.

The health club is in the same building, and three tennis courts sit on its sixth floor, with four pickleball courts and weekly clinics. Ko Olina Golf Club is a short walk away.

The Neighboring Resort

Four Seasons Oahu vs. Aulani

They sit side by side on the same Ko Olina lagoon, but staying at one resort does not give you access to the other’s pools. It is the question I field more than any other about Ko Olina, so here is what you can share and what you can’t.

01

The lagoon

The water and public shoreline are shared. Each hotel reserves its own loungers, umbrellas, and beach service for its guests.

02

Dining and spa

Four Seasons guests can eat at Aulani’s restaurants, book the Laniwai Spa (my Laniwai Spa visit), attend the KA WA‘A lū‘au, and reserve the Makahiki character breakfast, which lets you see characters without staying there, all subject to availability. It runs the other way too: Aulani guests can book the Four Seasons restaurants and the Naupaka Spa, though in my experience few do.

03

Pools and activities

Aulani’s pools, slides, lazy river, and most activities are for its overnight guests, enforced with daily wristbands, and most character experiences follow the same rule. The Four Seasons pools are likewise for Four Seasons guests.

Aulani has let travel agents know that a national television production will use part of its beach from January 23 to 28, 2027, with its activities continuing along the rest of the beach. If your dates overlap, expect some production noise. My guess is American Idol, and I have had people in residence while this was filming. Some love it, and some don’t.

The Logistics

Getting There and Getting Around

The resort is about 30 minutes and 20 miles from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL), and the ride always feels shorter to me because it is highway most of the way. Arrange a car through the hotel or take an Uber, which works well on Oahu. For an arrival people remember, the resort can arrange a ten-minute helicopter flight from the airport to its own helipad.

About half my clients skip the rental car. The concierge can arrange a driver for day trips, and Enterprise can have a car ready for a single North Shore or Kualoa Ranch day, so you do not need one sitting in valet all week.

If you land before check-in or fly out long after checkout, the resort’s Arrival & Departure Lounge has luggage storage and a place to freshen up.

Advisor Intel

Four Seasons Oahu offers a one-way PS experience at Los Angeles International to guests flying through LAX for certain bookings. PS is the private terminal where you clear your own security and are driven across the tarmac to the plane.

The open lobby at Four Seasons Oahu.
It’s an easy lobby with lots of seating and the concierge team at desks on the left.

What to Book Before You Fly

  • Dinner reservations. Noe and Mina’s, especially.
  • A pool cabana. They sell out on busy days.
  • KA WA‘A luau at Aulani. Reservations open 180 days out, and the Four Seasons concierge can help you book it.
  • Makahiki character breakfast at Aulani. Reservations open 45 days out.
  • USS Arizona Memorial. Tickets release on Recreation.gov 56 days out at 3 p.m. Hawaii time, with a smaller batch the day before.

Ko Olina and Day Trips

Ko Olina is a planned resort area on the west shore, built around four man-made lagoons, with a golf course and one small shopping center. There is no town to wander into, which is what my clients like about it. Ko Olina Center is a walk from the resort. I have eaten at Monkeypod Kitchen there, and Island Country Markets is where you stock the fridge at ordinary prices.

Kualoa Ranch is about an hour away, and Pearl Harbor and the North Shore are easy day trips.

Katie’s Tip · Pearl Harbor

USS Arizona Memorial tickets are the hardest reservation of your trip, and in summer and over holidays they are gone within minutes of release. If you miss them, the concierge can arrange a private tour with the tickets included, which is what we book for clients who decide late.

The walkway between two activity surfboards, one with today's activities and one with tomorrow's
I love how the left-hand side has today’s activity and the right-hand side has tomorrow’s activity on the surfboards.

Pairing Oahu With Four Seasons Lanai

Four Seasons Lanai includes flights departing from Honolulu’s airport (HNL), with room and suite bookings through 2027. This makes it very easy to pair Four Seasons Lanai and Four Seasons Oahu.

Lanai Air has its own lounge at HNL, and a greeter meets you at baggage claim and walks you over to the private aviation side.

Your Questions

FAQs About Staying at Four Seasons Oahu

Is Four Seasons Oahu good for families?

Yes, especially with children under five. The lagoon has no waves, and Camp Kohola is a free kids’ club for ages 5 to 12. Its evening programs take reservations, so parents can get a dinner out. Most room categories connect. The connecting rooms are outer-connecting, so both doors open into a private vestibule and only the outer door faces the hallway.

What is the best room at Four Seasons Oahu?

The Oceanfront Room is the one my clients book most, and it is the room I stayed in. It has an unobstructed ocean view from the lanai and sleeps three adults, or two adults and two children. A family of four on a tighter budget does well in a Garden-View Room with its sofa bed, and a family of five with young children may fit a Studio Suite with the resort’s approval, or connecting rooms.

Does Four Seasons Oahu have a real beach?

It sits on a protected, man-made lagoon with soft sand and calm salt water, and the resort keeps its own stretch of beach. There are no waves, so travelers who want surf should look at the North Shore or Waikiki.

Can Four Seasons Oahu guests use Aulani?

Partly. You can eat at Aulani’s restaurants, book the Laniwai Spa, attend the KA WA‘A luau, and reserve the Makahiki character breakfast. Aulani’s pools, slides, and most character experiences are for Aulani guests only.

Can you visit Four Seasons Oahu without staying there?

The resort does not sell pool or beach day passes. Its restaurants and the Naupaka Spa take reservations from non-guests, and Hawaii beaches are public, so the lagoon itself is open to everyone, while the chairs and service are for hotel guests.

Is the Club Lounge at Four Seasons Oahu worth it?

For families, usually yes. Everyone registered in a Club room or suite gets in, and the afternoon snacks and cocktail hour cover the stretch between the pool and dinner. For a couple who will eat at the restaurants every night, it comes down to whether you will use it during the day.

Is it better to book Four Seasons Oahu with Preferred Partner or Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts?

Preferred Partner, always. It covers daily breakfast for two at La Hiki or through room service, tax included and gratuity additional, plus a hotel credit, and the resort looks after its Preferred Partner guests first. The Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts breakfast benefit here is a smaller credit at La Hiki that does not apply to room service. The one Amex advantage is a guaranteed 4 p.m. checkout, and the resort’s Arrival & Departure Lounge, plus the Club Lounge if you are in a Club room, makes a standard checkout easy to work around.

How much does Four Seasons Oahu cost?

Rates move with the season and the room category. There is no resort fee, valet parking is charged nightly, and the resort runs an offer most of the year, often a fourth night free or a nightly spending credit. Send us your dates and we will quote the room with Preferred Partner benefits added.

Do you need a rental car at Four Seasons Oahu?

Not usually. About half my clients skip it. Parking is valet only and charged per night, and the concierge can arrange drivers for day trips, or Enterprise can have a car ready for a single day.

What ages does the Four Seasons Oahu kids club take?

Camp Kohola at The Hideaway takes ages 5 to 12 and is free. Teens have a game room, Camp Manitou runs in some seasons for ages 9 to 17, and for younger children you can ask the concierge about babysitting.

How far is Four Seasons Oahu from Honolulu and Waikiki?

It is about 30 minutes from the airport and 35 from downtown Honolulu by car, and a little more to Waikiki, mostly on highway.
