Families looking for edutainment adventures this year are in luck. At the next #KidsNTrips family travel Twitter party, we’ll highlight two major museums in America’s Historic Triangle that been reimagined to prove that history is fun.

Still planning spring break and summer travel? Here’s why you may just want to put Virginia on your itinerary.

The American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, VA is about to celebrate a Grand Opening after 10 years of transition. The popular museum will reflect a national renewed perspective on the American Revolution. Living history interactions have been expanded and guests can explore over 500 artifacts, daily highlights of one of America’s 13 original states, interactive exhibits and much more. Summer will be an excellent time to visit as the museum’s inaugural special exhibition, “AfterWARd: The Revolutionary Veterans Who Built America”will debut in June and feature post-war stories of veterans of the Siege of Yorktown.

Jamestown Settlement, a museum of 17th-century Virginia history and culture, opens a new interactive gallery exhibits exploring the Powhatan Indian, English and west central African cultures that converged in the 1600s. The museum has taken depictions of Pocahontas to create “Pocahontas Imagined,” a special exhibition opening July 15 that illustrates why her legacy lives on hundreds of years later as well as her impact on popular culture and art.
