Under this annual scholarship program, we will award a $500 one-time scholarship to a single recipient biannually, in the fall and spring academic year. You can find our previous scholarship recipients here.

Qualifications

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate communications or related field degree program at an accredited college in the United States OR a graduating high school senior who has plans to study communications or related fields.

The scholarship recipient must be a US citizen or a permanent legal resident and will also be required to provide proof of acceptance to his or her college or university or a college transcript.

Anyone who has been awarded a La Jolla Mom scholarship is ineligible to participate in subsequent years.

Deadline

The deadline to apply for the Spring La Jolla Mom Communications Scholarship is October 14, 2022. The winner will be notified by email before October 28, 2022.

Who Is Eligible to Apply?

Eligible applicants include students who are planning to or are already pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited college or university in the United States. Students must be U.S. citizens and age 18 or older by October 14, 2022.

Are There Any Other Application Requirements?

No. We do not require any other personal or other information beyond what is listed on the form. There is also no application fee.

Can Part-Time Students Apply?

Yes, part-time students are encouraged to apply.

How Is the Scholarship Payment Received?

A one-time payment of $500 will be issued directly to the scholarship recipient, who will use it in accordance with IRS scholarship guidelines. We can also disperse the payment directly to the student’s college or university Bursar’s office.

How Is the Recipient Chosen?

The scholarship recipient is chosen at the sole discretion of the La Jolla Mom team based on the overall strength of the application.

How Many Scholarships Are Awarded?

Two scholarships per academic year will be awarded to two qualifying recipients.
