Beach Village at The Del is the most exclusive section of Hotel del Coronado, with 78 private beachfront cottages and villas offering luxury, space, privacy, and full access to the resort’s restaurants, spa, and beach.
As Hotel del Coronado’s top referrer, I’ve worked directly with the resort for years to match clients to the best accommodations and decide whether this elevated experience fits their vacation.
In this Beach Village review, I’ll help you evaluate the resort, compare room types, understand booking options, and maximize the VIP perks available through my partnerships.
Beach Village at The Del Reservations: Book with My Exclusive Benefits
I book Beach Village at The Del with either Virtuoso or Hilton for Luxury benefits. Pricing is usually similar, but I check both programs to secure the best value for your dates and room type.
Through my Crown Club partnership, I add enhanced perks to both programs:
Crown Club benefits are not listed on Virtuoso.com or visible when searching Hilton for Luxury rates directly. I ensure they’re applied automatically when you book through me. If you book on Virtuoso.com and Hilton for Luxury offers a better rate, I will adjust your reservation whenever possible.
How to Book:
➔ Virtuoso*: Check Rates & Book Now on Virtuoso.com
➔ Hilton for Luxury: Request Hilton for Luxury Booking
➔ Compare Both*: Request Access to My Booking Tool
*When searching rates on Virtuoso or our hotel booking tool, don’t enter children 17 and under—they’ll be priced as adults. I’ll add them after you book when I reach out about your reservation.

The Five Hotel del Coronado Neighborhoods
Hotel del Coronado is divided into five neighborhoods, each with its own guest rooms, suites, and booking channels. Beach Village and Shore House are booked separately as private accommodations.
Beach Village at The Del Rooms and Suites
Beach Village at The Del offers a private collection of villas and cottages designed to feel like a luxury beachfront residence, blending seamlessly into Hotel del Coronado’s Victorian architecture.
The gated community includes one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites and spacious guest rooms. Many suites feature full kitchens, fireplaces, soaking tubs, and outdoor patios or balconies, while guest rooms include similar indoor finishes without kitchens.
Beach Village accommodations vary by location and room type, with some offering full oceanfront views and others featuring partial coastal or interior views. Outdoor features such as fire pits, soaking tubs, and terraces depend on room category.
How to Understand Your Room or Suite’s Location
- Beach Village layout: Cottages sit in the front beachfront row; Villas are directly behind.
- Beachfront or Coastal View = ground floor.
- Oceanfront or Ocean View = second or third floor.
- Room locations can impact views and outdoor features — I recommend reviewing the resort map before booking.
The most popular accommodation we book is the Beachfront Fireside Junior Cottage (Beachfront = ground floor and Cottage = first row). Junior = junior suite.
Accessible rooms and suites exist in the following categories:
- Coastal View Villa Room: hearing accessible
- Ocean View Villa Room: mobility and hearing accessible
- Beachfront Cottage Junior Suite: mobility and hearing accessible
- Coastal View Villa Suite: hearing accessible
Beach Village Guest Rooms
These spacious rooms have two queen beds and a queen-sized sofa bed!
These are the most popular accommodations for families of five or six on the entire resort.
Ocean View Villa and Coastal View Villa Rooms
Beds: Two queen beds and a queen-sized sofa sleeper
Size: 535 square feet

Villa Rooms are the smallest, one-room residences in the second row of buildings and can accommodate up to five people. These are the entry-level Beach Village accommodations.
The second-floor Ocean View Villa Room has a small balcony. Alternatively, the Coastal View Villa Room is on the ground floor with a small terrace.
A foyer provides access to the marble bathroom or the main living and sleeping area. The space includes a small dining area, two queen-size beds, and a twin-size sofa bed.
Beachfront Fireside Cottage and Oceanfront Cottage Rooms
Beds: Two queen beds and a queen-sized sofa sleeper
Outdoor features: Fire pit on the Beachfront Fireside Cottage Room patio
Size: 600 square feet

The Beachfront Fireside Cottage Room and the Oceanfront Cottage Room are also one-room residences. At 600 square feet, they are slightly larger than the villa rooms and feature a full-size sofa bed instead of a twin-size sofa bed. These rooms also have a small dining area and two queen-size beds.
A small entryway allows access to the marble bathroom or the main room. Beachfront Cottage Rooms on the ground floor have an outdoor soaking tub, while the second-floor Oceanfront rooms do not. This room option can accommodate up to five people.
One-Bedroom Suites
Beach Village has a variety of one-bedroom suites with two versions: a ground-floor and a second- or third-floor option.
Many of the one-bedroom layouts include a great room and a fully separate private bedroom with an attached but separate marble bathroom.
Junior Cottage Suites (Beachfront & Oceanfront)
Beds: One king bed and a king-sized sofa sleeper
Outdoor features: Fire Pit on the Beachfront Fireside Junior Cottage patio
Size: 650 square feet

The Oceanfront Junior Cottage and Beachfront Fireside Junior Cottage Suites can accommodate four people. The former is the second-floor option featuring a balcony, while the latter is the ground-floor option with a terrace.
One notable difference between these two layouts is the outdoor space. The ground-floor terrace includes an outdoor fire pit, but the second-floor balcony doesn’t.
The separate bedroom boasts a king-size bed and an attached marble bathroom. There is an independent living and dining area (separated from the bedroom by pocket doors), but it does not include a full kitchen. This is what the divide between the rooms looks like.

Villa Suites (Ocean View & Coastal View)
Beds: One king bed and a queen sofa sleeper
Size: 700 square feet

There are two types of Villa Suites. The Ocean View Villa Suite is on the second floor with a balcony. The Coastal View Villa Suite is on the ground floor with a terrace.
A king bedroom is fully separated from the living area, where there is a full-size sofa bed and kitchen. However, this residence style does not include an outdoor firepit on the balcony or terrace.
These are the entry-level true one-bedroom suites with a solid door separating the bedroom and living room.

This one-of-a-kind accommodation sleeps up to four people and features 1,085 square feet of space. A great room with a full kitchen, dining, and living area leads to an expansive outdoor balcony.

Two-Bedroom Suites at Beach Village at The Del
Beach Village at The Del Curio Collection by Hilton offers a diverse collection of two- and three-bedroom residences.
Some are on the ground floor, while others are on the second floor. Each of the two- and three-bedroom accommodations also have one villa style that is a split-level design.
Beware of external sites that say they can guarantee connecting rooms at Beach Village. They usually can’t — you must book a two- or three-bedroom suite to ensure you have multiple bedrooms. If you book connecting rooms through a third-party site, you may arrive to find that you have two separated rooms. It happens.
Two-Bedroom Ocean View Villa Loft Suite
Beds: Two king beds, one queen sofa sleeper
Outdoor features: Outdoor soaking tub on the second floor

The interior includes two bedrooms: one with two queen-size beds and the other with one king-size bed. The great room consists of a living and dining area with a gourmet kitchen. It also includes two marble bathrooms, two fireplaces, one twin-size and one full-size sofa bed.
These two-bedroom suites are one-bedroom Villa Suites attached to a Villa Room in the same view category. Don’t book separate rooms and request that they connect. Book only as a two-bedroom suite unless you speak with us or the hotel directly.

Three-Bedroom Ocean View Villa Loft Suites

Two of the bedrooms each have one king-size bed (one bedroom also has a queen sofa bed). The third bedroom has two queen-size beds and a queen sofa bed. These residences also include three marble bathrooms and three fireplaces.
Dining at Beach Village at The Del
The only dining venue exclusive to Beach Village guests is Breezes, the poolside bar located at the Beach Village Oval Pool. In addition, Beach Village guests have full access to Hotel del Coronado’s resort-wide dining, including Nobu, which just opened in May.
Featured Main Resort Dining
- Nobu del Coronado: The world-renowned Japanese-Peruvian restaurant offers signature sushi, sashimi, and hot dishes overlooking the ocean. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially for peak evenings.
- Veranda: This is where Virtuoso and Hilton for Luxury breakfast benefits are used, offering a full daily buffet with ocean views. I think it’s one of the better resort breakfast buffets in San Diego.
- Serea: Elevated coastal cuisine focused on local seafood, and I suggest making reservations.
- Sun Deck: Great for al fresco beachfront cocktails and lunch.
- Babcock & Story Bar
- ENO Market & Pizzeria
- Beach & Taco Shack: Casual beachfront bar with takeaway and tables.
- Sundae’s: Ice cream, coffee, and light snacks.
Breezes
Breezes is a casual poolside bar at the Beach Village Oval Pool that offers refreshing cocktails in a relaxed setting. It operates seasonally and typically opens from late morning to afternoon on select days.
Hours and days of operation may vary, so I recommend checking with the resort for the most up-to-date information during your stay.
Ocean Club
Beach Village guests have access to Ocean Club on a la carte basis. If you are a Hilton for Luxury or Virtuoso guest, this is where your included breakfast is. More details are below.
Modified In-Room Dining
A new alternative to traditional in-room dining called Del Dash was just introduced for Beach Village and Shore House guests. Del Dash is available for breakfast and dinner, where you can place an order online and it will be delivered to you!
Pools Only for Beach Village Guests

The main pool at Beach Village at The Del Curio Collection by Hilton is the Beach Village Oval Pool. You can also rent cabanas with a sofa, flat screen TV, amenity basket, and fresh fruit.
Several plunge pools and hot tubs are scattered throughout the grounds of these private residences. These secluded pools are exclusive to guests at Beach Village at The Del.
More Exclusive Perks
Beach Village is the most exclusive and highest-priced section of Hotel del Coronado, but guests receive several additional benefits not offered at the main resort — along with upgraded accommodations, privacy, and personalized service.
Two Complimentary Chairs and Umbrellas

Beach Village and Shore House guests receive two complimentary chairs and a complimentary umbrella daily from Del Beach.
This is a significant savings. A chair rental costs $25 per chair per day, and beach umbrellas cost $30 each per day. So, that’s $80 per day, included with your stay, so you can enjoy Coronado Beach to the fullest.
Ocean Club Access (Details Subject to Change)
Beach Village guests—including those booked through Virtuoso and Hilton for Luxury—currently have complimentary daily access to the Ocean Club without paying the standard full-day fee. Food and beverage are charged on an à la carte basis.
Current Inclusions and Access Details:
- Ocean Club entry is included daily for all Beach Village guests (no day-use fee).
- Virtuoso and Hilton for Luxury include daily breakfast for two served at the Ocean Club.
- Other Beach Village guests may dine at the Ocean Club for breakfast at à la carte pricing.
- Lunch buffet and light menu items are available throughout the day (charged à la carte).
- Dinner service is offered nightly and is charged à la carte for all guests.
- Seasonal Beach Club access (an exclusive, members-only lounge on Del Beach) is included with Ocean Club access.
Many guests find the current à la carte system more flexible and often more cost-effective than paying for all-day dining, especially if they plan to enjoy other restaurants on the property or in town.
Important: Ocean Club access policies have changed several times since opening and may change again. I monitor updates closely and will confirm the latest details for my clients at the time of booking.
Dedicated Concierge Service
One of the major differences at Beach Village is the personalized service provided by the Host Concierge team. With only 78 accommodations, service here is highly responsive and far more individualized compared to the larger main resort.
In my experience working directly with their concierge team on behalf of my clients, they’re highly responsive, easy to reach by phone or email, and very proactive with pre-arrival planning. They assist with dining reservations, spa appointments, transportation, activities, and special requests throughout the stay.
Private Entrances and Gated Access

Beach Village at The Del has a private gated entrance, where guests receive a VIP greeting and optional property tour upon arrival. Only registered Beach Village guests may access this part of the resort, providing additional privacy, security, and a quieter beachfront experience, especially helpful during peak season when the main resort can be busy.
Hotel del Coronado Main Resort Property Amenities

Beach Village at The Del offers a truly unique experience. You get to enjoy the private comforts of the residences while also indulging in the main resort’s amenities, which include the following.
Fitness Center
Open daily, 24 hours a day, the fitness center in The Victorian building features a variety of strength training and cardio equipment. You can choose from many activities, including Yoga, Pilates, Beach Spin, Paddleboard Yoga, and Yoga on the Beach.
The latter is complimentary to all guests who stay overnight and are at least 16 years old. You must make a reservation to attend classes. Certified trainers are also available at an additional cost. This is a really nice gym—I’m impressed by the diversity of equipment every time I go in there.
Surfing Lessons
Surf lessons are available through the Jamie O’Brien Surf Academy. They offer private lessons in the morning and group lessons by reservation.
Ocean Explorers Kids’ Club (Seasonal)

Kids ages 5-12 can join Ocean Explorers for a half or full day. The schedule runs daily during peak seasons like summer and holidays but can be weekends only during other times of the year. Check the schedule before you go if a kids’ club is important to you.
Spa & Salon at The Del
Inspired by the ocean, Spa & Salon at The Del offers a diverse collection of spa treatments. This includes massages, facials, body treatments, and nail care.
The private concierge of Beach Village at The Del can book any service you desire. The Spa & Salon at The Del is normally in The Victorian building.
You’re encouraged to arrive 30 minutes before your appointment. This allows you time to be shown the onsite lockers and change into a plush robe and slippers. Kids aged 14-17 can receive spa services from a same-gender provider. However, the parent needs to be present and provide consent.
Shops at The Del
Shops at The Del includes a collection of newly renovated specialty and apparel shops. Specialty boutiques include Beachhouse, a home goods store; En Route, high-quality leathers and luggage; and Est. 1888, a souvenir shop.
There are five apparel stores: Monroe, Current, Brady’s for Men, The Signature Shop, and Weekends. I can personally also vouch for the fudge at Spreckels Sweets. The bottom line, though, is that if you forget to pack something, you’re covered.
Ice House Museum
As a guest at Beach Village at The Del, LXR Hotels and Resorts by Hilton, you can visit the Ice House Museum. Housed in the restored 1889 Ice House, the museum showcases The Del’s rich and storied history.
It displays memorabilia and artifacts of its legendary guests and its world-famous dining and recreation history. Admission is complimentary. However, history tours are an additional cost.
The current list of docent-led tours includes the Legendary Tour, Haunted Happenings Tour, and the Beautiful Stranger Anniversary Tour. Private group tours and self-guided audio tours are also available.
Live Music
There are two locations where you can enjoy live music, but you’ll need to check the schedule. The first option is the Beach + Taco Shack. The second option is the Babcock & Story Bar, which features famous local musician Gonzo Gonzales.
Daily Roasts
One of the most sought-after Hotel del Coronado experiences is the beach Roast. Available nightly at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., you and your loved ones can enjoy a private beach bonfire.
Watch the sunset and roast s’mores. You can pick up food and drinks for your roast from Beach + Taco Shack or ENO Market & Pizzeria.
Tip: A Communal Roast Is Included with Ocean Club
The normal cost is $210 for one fire pit for up to 10 people for a private roast on the main resort, so this is a nice benefit. The Ocean Concierge Club version of the roast isn’t private but you do get to roast some s’mores!
Seasonal Movies on the Beach
Cuddle up with your loved ones with a movie under the stars on Del Beach. You can purchase food and beverages from the nearby Beach + Taco Shack.
Films start promptly (typically at 7:30 pm), but check the calendar at the time of your booking. There are different seating options, including renting a private bonfire for making s’mores. Reservations are required. You can book them with your personal concierge at Beach Village at The Del.
Holiday Events

One of the best times to visit Hotel del Coronado is during the holiday season, when they have myriad activities and a seaside ice skating rink.
You can spend Halloween on the Windsor Lawn or hunt for Easter Eggs there, too — to name a few of many other seasonal activities.
The Coronado Island Neighborhood
Coronado is a land-tied island to greater San Diego. It’s connected to Imperial Beach via the Silver Strand, but most people travel here by driving over the Coronado Bridge. You can also get here via the Coronado Ferry.
Its unique location serves as an “island” getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s famous for the Hotel Del Coronado complex but most well-known for its beaches.
Coronado beaches are some of the most beautiful, with sparkling sands that appear to be speckled with gold. Central Beach is also popular with surfers.
Things to do in Coronado include excellent golf courses, tide pooling, walking tours, and bicycle rentals. You can also visit a sunken ship, go boating on the Bay, or catch a show at Lamb’s Players Theatre.
Multiple restaurants and shops are also within an easy walk. It takes about 15 minutes to reach Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is the difference between Beach Village and Shore House?
Beach Village usually commands a higher price point than Shore House at The Del because it’s set up as a community of separate buildings that each house a few different rooms and suites. It feels more like a residential neighborhood and is considered more ultra-luxury.
On the other hand, Shore House is a single building shaped like a “U” and feels like a boutique hotel within a larger resort. You can learn more in my Shore House at The Del review.
Do Beach Village Cottages have direct walk-out access to the beach?
No. The entire community is gated for guest protection. Multiple exits throughout the perimeter provide access to the beach and the main resort.
Beach Village: The Bottom Line
Beach Village at The Del solves many of the challenges travelers face when choosing a San Diego luxury resort. This includes:
- Direct beachfront location on one of Southern California’s best beaches.
- Quieter, gated, and more private than the main resort — ideal for guests who want a more intimate experience.
- Renovated accommodations offering full kitchens in suites and up to three bedrooms for families, multigenerational stays, or longer visits.
- Personalized concierge service and exclusive access to amenities like Ocean Club and private Beach Village pools.
- One of the most luxurious ways to experience a San Diego beachfront vacation.
As always, I stay closely updated on room categories, seasonal pricing, and available promotions. If you’re considering Beach Village, I’m happy to help you find the best option for your stay.
