There are 439 guestrooms and 40 suites housed in six buildings across the resort’s expansive property. Each boasts a SoCal sophistication utilizing a beach-inspired color palette of sea-foam green, sunny yellow, and classic greige.
When choosing a room or suite, your main decision involves the view type you’d like. Options include views of the resort’s lush grounds, downtown San Diego skyline, San Diego Bay, resort marina, the Pacific Ocean or a mix.
ROOM SELECTION TIPS
For a guaranteed water view from your room or suite, book the marina view, partial bay view, or bay view categories. Some of the partial water view rooms also include partial parking lot views, so if that’s a deal-breaker for you, opt for a full bay view. Rooms that overlook the resort patio can be noisy at times due to events, so if you prefer peace and quiet ask to be situated elsewhere.
Loews Coronado Bay Resort Rooms
Guestrooms at Loews Coronado Bay Resort can be booked in four view categories:
- resort view

Most have the choice of one king bed or two full-size beds.
All guestrooms, except for some resort view king rooms, include an attached, furnished, private patio or balcony. Each room includes an executive desk, a plush armchair with an ottoman, a stone-top vanity, and a soaking tub with a separate shower. There isn’t a soaking tub in the resort view and some bay view rooms, however.
Loews Suites
Families of five and those who would like more space should consider booking a suite.
Boasting a large living room with a queen sized pull-out sleeper sofa and a separate spacious bedroom, Coronado Bay View King Suites are ideal for families of up to five people. You’ll enjoy plenty of natural light thanks to several large windows and floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open onto a furnished balcony overlooking picturesque San Diego Bay.
These suites may also look out to the bay over the resort or parking lot from some windows (we’ve stayed in this suite, and it’s fantastic).
Offering a genuinely exclusive experience with a focus on privacy, Bayside King Suites are situated in a more remote location on the resort grounds overlooking gorgeous San Diego Bay. Each elegantly designed, ocean-inspired suite features a separate bedroom with a king bed, an expansive living area with a sleeper sofa, and an executive desk with an armchair.
There are two 55-inch LED televisions, two closets, and beautiful French doors that lead out onto a private, fully furnished balcony with 360-degree views of the downtown skyline and bay. The oversized bathroom features a stone-top vanity, a separate shower with double shower heads, and a whirlpool bathtub.
The only suite of its kind, the Vice Presidential King Suite is a bayside oasis featuring three expansive balconies that provide incredible vistas of the bay and downtown skyline. It has a separate bedroom outfitted with a king bed, a spacious living room, a built-in wet bar, and a dining area with a full-size refrigerator. There are two 55-inch flat-panel LED televisions and an executive desk with a luxury armchair.
The suite also features an expansive bathroom with a separate double-headed shower, a whirlpool tub, and a marble top vanity, as well as a second full bathroom off the living room.
Where glitz and glamour meet functionality and comfort, the Presidential King Suite is an expansive, elegantly designed suite outfitted with only the most luxurious amenities. Incredible scenic views from an outdoor patio and three private furnished balconies overlook the San Diego skyline and San Diego Bay.
Inside, you’ll find an expansive living room featuring a gorgeous fireplace, built-in wet bar, large dining area with a full-size refrigerator, an extra half-bath for guests, and even a baby grand piano. The suite features a separate bedroom with a king bed, and a large bathroom with a whirlpool bathtub, separate dual-showerhead shower, and stone top vanity.
Loews Coronado Restaurants
We’re fans of the Flavor by Loews program designed to showcase the best of San Diego’s food and drink offerings all at the resort through creative menus and partnerships with local artisans like You & Yours Distilling Co., Mike Hess Brewery, Sweet Cheeks Baking Co., and Catalina Offshore Products.
Ingredients are also grown in the “Grow” hotel garden, which is open for guests to walk through or sit on one of the benches with a book to unwind.
Crown Landing
Crown Landing is the resort’s signature restaurant. In keeping with the resort’s relaxed ambience that caters to vacationing families, the restaurant is casual chic.
Large arched windows reach the ceiling flooding the dining room with light and offering gorgeous views of the resort’s private marina and an outdoor dining terrace. The nautically-themed décor with bright white walls, wood flooring, bistro tables and booths, and navy blue accents provides an airy and comfortable feel.
The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus desserts and cocktails, either indoors or out. Chef-driven menus feature California cuisine sourced from local ingredients, like seafood from Catalina Offshore Products, an incredibly well-regarded source of sushi-grade seafood for San Diego residents and restaurants. They source from fishermen using sustainable practices.
Menu favorites include the tuna poke, Dungeness crab cakes, and grilled octopus starters. Mains that consistently impress include either swordfish, roasted New York steak, and squid ink bucatini (I’ve had this and recommend it). There are also several kids’ pleasers on each menu.
Vegans and those with special dietary needs will be impressed with the chefs’ willingness to modify dishes to suit. No matter what you order, don’t be surprised if they visit your table to see how you like your food.
MENU TIP
If guests order the Local Monger’s Catch of the day, they’re told who caught the fish, the name of the boat, where it was caught and when it was caught.
Silver Strand Exchange
Silver Strand Exchange is the resort’s grab-and-go outlet with quick bites that range from fresh acai bowls to handcrafted deli sandwiches to creamy gelato. You can eat in the café-style dining area near the windows or take your order to go. Expect gourmet coffees, artisan baked goods, snacks and sundries, and even craft beer or wine.
We love that the little store section sells everything from souvenirs to board games to play in the room.
At the back of Silver Strand Exchange is a fresh juice bar by day. In the evenings, this space turns into a craft cocktail bar that is a hidden gem. You have to know about it, so here we are, telling you to pull up a chair and let Rourke or one of the bartenders mix you up a drink.
La Cantina
La Cantina is there for you when you can’t get enough of the California sunshine. Conveniently located poolside, it has options for the whole family. Try one of their legendary mojitos, margaritas, or cheladas as you while away the hours. If your taste leans toward local craft brews, those are available too on tap or by the can.
Delicious light fare like tapas, tacos, burgers, and salads will satisfy your midday cravings. Kids’ bites range from chicken tenders and burgers to quesadillas and PB&Js.
Cays Lounge
Just past a stunning double staircase in the resort lobby, Cays Lounge opens onto the adjacent Bay Terrace. Take in magnificent views of the San Diego cityscape and bay from this lobby bar while enjoying signature cocktails and craft beers, along with tapas and small plates.
A media wall with nine TVs provides entertainment for sports lovers in a relaxed setting. Plush lounge and patio seating and terrace fire pits create a casual and inviting indoor/outdoor experience from morning to night.
Silver Strand State Beach
It’s no secret that people visit specifically to go to the beach. Silver Strand State Beach near Loews Coronado Bay Resort is one of San Diego’s best beaches.
It’s big, first of all, with loads of activities to enjoy year-round. Its somewhat remote location means that it’s often not quite as busy as Coronado Central Beach and a bit more rustic. Shelling is popular here, but so is swimming and sunbathing in addition to water sports and surfing lessons. It’s also an RV campground.
It takes about 5-10 minutes to walk to the sand from accommodations at Loews Coronado Bay Resort, but resort golf cart service to the beach is regularly available from the lobby. Guests of Loews have access to complimentary beach chair and umbrella service so no need to transport too much gear from your room.
In summer, I look forward to Silver Strand Cafe, which has casual food like sandwiches and ice cream. Guests can rent boogie boards and other beach equipment as well.

Action Sports Rentals
San Diego’s Action Sports Rentals maintains a location at Loews Coronado Bay Resort. Here, guests can rent bikes to ride on the 10-mile bike path along Silver Strand north to Coronado and south to Imperial Beach. Kayaks, Duffys, sailboats, and SUPs are also available for exploring the bay around the resort.
Sea Spa + Fitness
Sea Spa at Loews provides guests with signature island-inspired treatments from tropical sea stone massages to energizing facials. Their menu of luxurious spa services will refresh and relax you in either indoor or outdoor treatment rooms.
Spa amenities include an outdoor Watsu pool, spa courtyard Jacuzzi where you can also dine, a relaxation sanctuary, hair and nail salon, and a boutique featuring beauty and wellness products, resort wear, and accessories. Groups of six or more guests receive a complimentary bottle of champagne with their spa experience.

Three Outdoor Swimming Pools
At Loews Coronado, you’ll find three incredible outdoor pools – one for the kids, one for the adults, and one for the entire family. The resort swimming pools are heated year-round and surrounded by palm trees, oversized loungers, and umbrellas. Pool amenities include towels and poolside service. You’ll be given a butler pager to request assistance if you want to order food and drinks from your lounger.
For an additional fee, you can reserve luxury, private pool cabanas that feature large couches and oversized lounger beds. The pool area also has several table and chair setups for dining or lounging, as well as ping pong tables, outdoor games, and a hot tub. Hosted movie nights at the pool are a real treat for the kids.
Fitness Center and Classes
The Loews fitness center is a cut above most resorts. It offers awe-inspiring views of the San Diego cityscape and Pacific Ocean, highly trained wellness experts, and a staff of elite trainers. This state-of-the-art fitness center is outfitted with a wide selection of strength and cardio equipment, including stationary bikes, treadmills, elliptical machines, weight training equipment, and free weights.
They offer an array of personal training services as well as various group classes, ranging from outdoor spin on the patio with a marina view to yoga at the marina or on the beach. I’ve done beach yoga here, and it’s very tranquil (and good exercise).
Locker-room facilities include a separate sauna and steam room amenities for men and women. The fitness area also features several flat-panel LCD televisions, a stunning relaxation lounge, and water and towel service. There are also tennis courts.
Business Center
The fully-equipped business center will cater to all your needs if you’re on a working vacation or traveling for business. It provides a full range of supplies and services 24 hours a day. This includes printing, faxing, and photocopying, as well as computer stations with high-speed Internet and Internet access for your laptop. Meeting rooms are available as well.
A Different Type of Kids’ Club
Families looking for a San Diego hotel with a kids’ club are in luck during the summer season and on Fridays year-round.
The resort offers a Summer Aquatic Adventure Camp (ages 7-12) and Camp Scallywag (ages 12-16) from June–August in partnership with Crown Cove Aquatic Center. Kids can sign up for half or full days or an entire week.
Campers enjoy kayaking, sailing, Hawaiian outrigger, surfing, SUP, and more with fully certified staff. Full and half-day sessions are available and include a boxed lunch prepared by the resort.
Crown Cove Aquatic Center is located just down the walking path on Coronado Bay, and the resort provides golf cart shuttles to and from camp. The resort typically offers a year-round Friday Fun Day Camp at Crown Cove Aquatic Center from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. every Friday. The camp schedule and fees are subject to change.

Specialized bedding, collars, leashes, litter, litter boxes, pooper scoopers, and pick-up bags are also provided. Pet sitting and walking services are available upon request, and special gifts like scratch poles, catnip, and rawhide bones are also available.
About the Coronado Island Location
The section of Coronado along Silver Strand State Beach is mostly residential, a lovely setting for a relaxing resort experience. The Loews Coronado Bay Resort is five miles south of the main Coronado Island hub along Orange Avenue. Here, you’ll find everything from beach apparel to souvenirs, community theaters, upscale boutiques, art galleries, and a mix of places to eat.
Because of its more remote location, it’s popular for staycations and vacations for tourists who want beach access. The location also means that the pricing is typically lower than that of Hotel del Coronado and other San Diego resorts.
Getting to Coronado’s Main Area
To reach this part of town, you can use the free hotel shuttle service or ride over on one of the Loews Coronado Bay Resort bikes. On the opposite end of Orange Avenue from the Hotel del Coronado, you can catch the Coronado Ferry to downtown San Diego. The Ferry Landing Marketplace here provides another upscale boutique shopping area, and nearby Centennial Park offers the best San Diego cityscape views.
How to Sightsee in Coronado
The onsite concierge will be happy to help arrange an itinerary for you, but here are a few ideas. The Coronado Historical Association offers docent-led Coronado Heritage Walks that tour the neighborhood’s grand Victorian-style homes and explain the island’s history. Other guided island experiences include bayside food tasting, Segway, and Hotel del Coronado tours, to name a few things to do in Coronado.
For those who prefer to discover the island on their own, Coronado Golf Cart Rentals provides golf carts that seat up to eight people and can be rented by the hour or by the day. Closer to the resort, you can cruise through the canals of Coronado Cays with The Gondola Company.
Without traffic, and there can be traffic getting in and out of Coronado, it should take you about 20 minutes to get to Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo.
The Beaches
In addition to Silver Strand State Beach, one could visit several other popular Coronado beaches. Coronado Central Beach, the wide 1.5-mile-long beach situated along Ocean Boulevard, is the island’s most famous beach. Other Coronado beaches include Coronado Dog Beach where pups run free, South Beach where low tide exposes a shipwreck, and Coronado Tidelands Park – a small beach and park with lots of room to play, bike, and fly kites.
Glorietta Bay Park Beach is the hub for island watersports, and bayside Ferry Landing Beach is one of the best spots to watch bayside events like Big Bay Boom on the Fourth of July or the San Diego Parade of Boats at Christmas.
If you head south from Loews Coronado Bay Resort, you’ll reach Imperial Beach with its small pierside entertainment area and eclectic shops and eateries.
