Why Stay at the Seabird Resort, Part of Destination by Hyatt?

As the sister property to the Mission Pacific Hotel next door, The Seabird Resort holds much in common with its neighbor. Remember that The Seabird is officially designated as a Destination by Hyatt hotels, while the Mission Pacific falls under the scope of JdV by Hyatt boutique hotels.

The Seabird has a few unique amenities, such as a library and a full-service spa. It’s also much more family-friendly with a roster of kids’ activities and amenities. Couples tend to choose Mission Pacific, but they’ll be equally happy at The Seabird.

The other key difference? The pool at Mission Pacific Hotel has a cool rooftop location accompanied by a trendy bar. The Seabird’s outdoor pool is also fantastic and a bit more laid back. Guests of both properties have access to both pools.

Once you’ve accounted for the full scope of Seabird and Mission Pacific attractions — plus the restaurants and picturesque views — it’s easy to see why The Seabird Resort is already regarded as one of the best hotels in Oceanside.

Guest Rooms and Suites at the Seabird Resort Oceanside

Contemporary designs and beautiful artwork can be found within The Seabird Resort’s many rooms and suites. Lovely views are also an integral part of the experience, with some rooms overlooking the ocean while others offer cosmopolitan scenery.

As mentioned previously, noise can be a concern. The hotel is located right by the beach and near public transit, but the convenience this provides is accompanied by extra street and rail noise in the morning. Request a quiet room – they do exist.

Rooms are primarily categorized based on the number of beds and the type of view. The better the view, the higher the price point. Examples include:

  • 2 Queen Beds or 1 King Bed Poolside
  • 2 Queen Beds or 1 King Bed with Partial View
  • 2 Queen Beds or 1 King Bed with Ocean View
  • 2 Queen Beds or 1 King Bed with City View
  • 1 King Bed Cityscape View Deluxe
  • 1 King Bed with Ocean View Premier

Rooms range from 371–397 square feet. Connecting rooms are by request only and can’t be guaranteed. For families who need more space, I highly recommend the Estate Suite or Grand Estate Suite which have two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Select rooms are designated as Deluxe or Premier if they offer extra space or especially lavish amenities that go beyond the standard rooms.

The 1 King Bed Cityscape View Deluxe room, for example, adds a separate living area with a sleeper sofa, plus a balconette. The 1 King Bed With Ocean View Premier offers a larger balcony that provides sweeping views of the beach.

There are two types of accessible rooms: a Partial Ocean View room with two queen beds and an ADA shower or one with an ADA tub.

Seabird Resort Room Amenities

Amenities vary slightly from one room to the next. Regardless of whether you stay in an ocean view room or one with a partial ocean view, you can expect the following:

  • Flatscreen HDTV with premium channels
  • Free WiFi
  • Beverage cooler
  • Illy coffee maker
  • Complimentary water bottles, which can be filled at alkaline water stations
  • A steamer instead of an iron and ironing board
  • Individually controlled air conditioning
  • Drybar hair dryer
  • Pharmacopia bathroom amenities
  • Plush robes and slippers

The Seabird Resort Suites

Eager to upgrade your San Diego resort experience? In addition to the many rooms described above, The Seabird Resort offers several exclusive suites, including:

Grand Ocean Suite

Take in a stunning view of the Pacific Ocean from the unique vantage point of the appropriately named Grand Ocean Suite.

Spanning over 700 square feet, it is a wonderful option for couples but can also accommodate extra guests with its sleeper sofa and extra half bath.

An ADA-friendly version of this suite is also available, complete with a roll-in shower for its spacious bathroom.

Estate Suite (Great for Families)

This vast suite spans over 1,200 square feet, so you should have no trouble finding space to relax. You’ll get a wonderful night’s sleep in the king bed or one of the queen beds. Curl up with a book in the reading nook or enjoy a spa-like experience in one of two bathrooms.

As with the Grand Ocean Suite, the Estate Suite offers a more accessible version. Instead of a roll-in shower, this particular suite includes a bathtub with grab bars.

Like the Estate Suite, this space provides over 1,200 square feet. The two-bedroom suite is equipped with a huge furnished balcony, where you can soak in the sun alongside loved ones.

Dining at Seabird Resort Oceanside

Excellent cuisine abounds in and around Oceanside, but there’s something to be said for the convenience of dining onsite. If you stay at The Seabird Resort Oceanside, a few steps will take you from your room or suite to one of the region’s finest restaurants.

Whether you crave a quick snack or a hearty pasta dish, an exquisite culinary experience will always be within easy reach when you stay at The Seabird Resort. Limited room service is available, but you’ll have far more fun eating on site. Keep in mind that you can also head to Mission Pacific for a great meal. Otherwise, get ready to eat your fill at these Seabird Resort favorites:

The Shelter Club

When you need a bite but don’t want to venture far from the outdoor pool, you can grab a tasty snack or beverage at The Shelter Club. This poolside bar and lounge is only open to hotel guests, so it has a uniquely exclusive feel.

The Shore Room

Indulge at The Shore Room, where you can order a delightful cocktail and take in the pristine view. Several small eats are also available, including Charcuterie, flatbread, and oysters. If you have a sweet tooth, feel free to order the memorable mojito ice cream with candied lime.

Piper

Garden-to-table dining is the name of the game at Piper, where every meal is wonderfully fresh. Capturing the best of upscale California coastal cuisine, this restaurant boasts an appealing open kitchen layout, plus a lovely patio.

Hotel Amenities at the Seabird Resort Oceanside

When you aren’t eating your fill at the onsite restaurants or relaxing in your room, you’ll want to explore the many amenities offered at The Seabird Resort.

The outdoor pool is a must-visit, of course, but the resort also has plenty to offer for book and beach lovers.

Pool

The Seabird Resort Outdoor Pool

Nothing completes a Southern California vacation quite like an afternoon spent relaxing at the outdoor pool. You’ll love soaking in the sun at The Seabird Resort, where you can hang out in a lounge chair as you enjoy the sea breeze.

A vast stretch of sand is located mere steps away, so you can combine the best elements of a beach day with everything you love about the pool. The pool area also has a Jacuzzi, where you’ll be eager to recharge after a busy day.

Spa

As relaxing as a day by the pool might seem, true rejuvenation begins with a visit to the spa. The Seabird Resort offers spa amenities and services onsite, so you don’t have to go far to get the pampering you deserve.

Known as Sunny’s Spa, this location is popular not only among hotel guests but also, Oceanside locals, who find this facility — and its holistic rituals — deeply calming.

The enticing spa menu includes a wide array of compelling treatments designed to promote both physical and emotional healing.

From body wraps to massage services, these treatments incorporate wonderful aromas, plus targeted treatments that address concerns such as circulation and skin texture. The full-service spa also offers customized options for men, teenagers, and even expecting mothers.

Salon

In addition to the onsite spa, The Seabird Resort has a salon (known as the Beauty Lounge) that provides several services to level up your look.

Manicures and pedicures are top offerings, but you can also depend on this salon to make your hair look amazing via balayage or color touch-ups.

Library

A library might not be the first amenity you think of when picturing a luxurious seaside resort — but if you set aside a little time to unwind in this special space, you’ll realize just how magical a hotel library can be.

Featuring a vast collection of titles and several comfortable window seats, this charming room invites you to unwind as you immerse yourself in the pages of a good book. You’re also welcome to play a game of chess at the glass table or simply gaze at the books, which are gorgeously bound.

Fitness Center

After a day of lounging by the pool or relaxing in the library, you might be eager to move your body. The well-equipped fitness center at The Seabird Resort will actually have you looking forward to your next workout.

There, you’ll have access to all the essentials for a good sweat session: cardio machines (including treadmills and elliptical), free weights, and several weight machines.

If you’re a Peloton fan, you’ll be pleased to find your favorite workouts available. Add large windows and a lovely view —and you’ll discover that it’s remarkably easy to keep up with your fitness regimen.

Beach Amenities

If you find The Seabird Resort’s proximity to the acclaimed Oceanside Beach appealing, you’ll definitely want to take advantage of the hotel’s beach amenities, which are covered under your resort fee.

These include access to both beach chairs and umbrellas, which staff members will be happy to set up on your behalf through beach butler service.

The Little Seabirds

Romantic suites and sophisticated bars make The Seabird Resort an appealing choice for couples, but families are also encouraged to stay at this Oceanside hotel.

The Little Seabirds program should please parents and kids alike, as it provides fun activities such as crafts and scavenger hunts. Most activities are complimentary for both Seabird Resort and Mission Pacific Hotel guests.

Weddings

If you’re blown away by the view and the service at The Seabird Resort, you might want to consider making the hotel a backdrop for your dream Oceanside wedding.

The property offers plenty of excellent venues, such as the refined Grand Coastal Ballroom and the open-air Coastal Terrace. The resort also offers exceptional catering, made possible by the culinary genius Chef Kurtis Habecker.
