Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail, turned out to be the perfect mountain getaway. As loyal guests of the brand, it was our first choice for a luxury hotel in Vail and exceeded our expectations.
The resort blends in perfectly with Vail’s Tyrolean style. It’s the type of place that caters to outdoor enthusiasts, spa-goers, family travelers and foodies on property and off. Within walking distance, guests have access to the best things to do in Vail during any season including shopping, restaurants, Colorado’s largest ski resort and more.
My daughter and I checked-in as guests of Vail in order to preview and share the mountain’s summer offerings. Though when we hopefully return for ski season, we’ll be checking in again for more cozy alpine luxury.
Four Seasons Resort Vail’s Location
The luxury resort is located within walking distance to the shops, restaurants and activities in both Vail Village and Lionshead. A car really isn’t necessary for short stays, though for the times you might be in a hurry or crave a nice ride, the house car can take you to nearby spots.
Drive time is about 30 minutes from Eagle-Vail airport (EGE) and just over two hours from Denver International Airport (DEN). Colorado Mountain Express can pick you up from either airport in a shared van or private car. I’ve used their service multiple times and have arrived at Vail via both airports over the years. I prefer EGE because it’s closer. From San Diego we typically connect via Los Angeles or Dallas on American Airlines. It’s easy.
Huge, Comfortable Rooms
What a treat to have an in-room fireplace, even in the summer. Four Seasons rooms are typically generously-sized and this one was no different.
Warm tones and comfy furnishings make returning home from a long day of outdoor fun in sun or snow quite a treat. Speaking of treats, how cute is our welcome amenity? The cookies and gelato at the hotel are delicious.
A large walk-in closet provides plenty of room for outdoor gear and clothing. I appreciated considerations for altitude changes like hand cream placed bedside, a humidifier to run when necessary and more filtered water than we could drink. When in the mountains, hydration is key.
If larger accommodations are required, rest assured this Four Seasons Resort Vail has plenty. The stunning private residence rentals boast up to six bedrooms.
Heated Pool for Sun or Snow
Yes, you can swim in the heated pool even when it’s snowing! How cool is that? Warm water meant swimming for much longer than my normal tolerance for cold pools allows, much to the joy of my daughter. She pulled a variety of balls, noodles and other toys from the giant basket and spent hours playing in the water. It’s really the perfect way to unwind after a day on the mountain. I also appreciated that poolside drink service was swift, attentive and friendly.
Great Dining Options
A generous buffet breakfast is served downstairs at Flame. Only part of it is pictured as waffles, an omelette station, smoothies, lots of hearty choices and more are served.
I had to take a photo of the mini smoothies and fresh green juices for future reference. I love the mini mason jars with handles.
Speaking of Flame, you’ll really want to make a dinner reservation. They serve what is regarded as the world’s best tasting beef, 7x, which hails from Colorado. The 100% Wagyu has a beautiful fleck marbling texture which produces a measurably more tender and juicier steak.
But then there were Rocky Mountain elk corn dogs, seared scallops and pork belly in addition to delicious sides like crispy kimchi brussels sprouts and smoked gouda mac and cheese.
And, yes, we did finish with warm maple glazed bacon donuts. So good!
The newly-remodeled Remedy Bar complete with cozy seating, fireplaces and a nice mountain view over the pool is a perfect place for apres-ski (or apres-llama, in our case).
The fact that my daughter and I ordered a ridiculous amount of room service is a tribute to our love of the room and how active we were on the mountain.
From the hummus plate to the Strawberry Fields salad (spinach, fennel, strawberry, onions, gorgonzola, peanuts, “LMNOP” rubbed chicken), everything was delicious. I forgot to take a photo of the Grilled Cheese on ‘Shrooms with braised portobello, lemon ricotta, provolone, porcini dip, and parmesan fries. Talk about a gourmet grilled cheese.
Plenty of Family Activities
Kids For All Seasons, a seasonal supervised childcare program for kids ages 5 – 12, and Teen Central with air hockey, cyber cafe and more ensure that young travelers can take breaks in their own space.
Outside Four Seasons Resort Vail is also year-round playground. You won’t believe how much there is to do on a Vail family vacation when it’s not snowing outside. Stay tuned for what we were able to accomplish in less than a week.
Four Seasons Resort Vail Ski Season Perks
I can only imagine how awesome Four Seasons Resort Vail is during the winter season. Did you know that they have a Ski Concierge in a separate building at the base of Gondola One to assist with equipment rentals, ski lessons, maps, weather reports, ski condition information and more?
Of course, there’s no need to lug gear back and forth to the resort as special lockers imported from Switzerland that air-dry equipment using a special system.
It’s things like this that I love about Four Seasons. They just make it so much easier for guests to do what they love.
Five Star Spa
I did not have a chance to visit the spa on this trip but it will next time. It’s a Forbes five-star spa, quite a prestigious award, which means I’m sure it’s the perfect place to ease sore muscles after a long ski day or other mountain adventure.
The #FSVailBears
Apparently, these bears dress for seasons and major events like when the Broncos played in the Super Bowl. Located just outside of Four Seasons Resort Vail, anyone passing by can snap a pic and tag it with #FSVailBears. So, that’s what we did.
Good to Know
Be sure to plan a long enough stay. Vail’s altitude is over 8000 feet and over 10,000 feet at Epic Discovery. I highly recommend a leisurely first day to adjust. Last year, we stopped in the Mile-High City first for a multi-day stay at Four Seasons Hotel Denver. After that, I didn’t feel tired in Vail like I normally do on the first day.
We did not experience a single service issue which is something I always appreciate about Four Seasons.
Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail is one of the resorts I can book for you with agent-exclusive amenities that will enhance and add value to your stay. Please send me your dates and I’ll tell you what’s on offer.
You will not run out of things to do in Vail in summer, fall, winter, or spring, I promise. It’s fantastic.
