We’ve compiled some helpful information for Virtuoso guests of the Hotel del Coronado resort, including Beach Village at The Del and Shore House at The Del neighborhoods.
Note: The Victorian Building rooms begin renovation on January 8, 2024 and this is expected to last over a year.
Please familiarize yourself with the resort’s reservation policies. This link will have the most current information, but at the time of this writing, your credit or debit card will be authorized at check-in for the full stay (minus your deposit paid at the time of booking) PLUS $150/day for incidentals to ensure you can cover them.
At check-out, you will be charged for your room and actual incidental spend, and the authorization will be dropped.
Check-In Begins: 4:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time
Check-Out By: 11:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time
Early check-in and late check-out are hard to achieve at this hotel. I suggest not planning on it. However, you can use the resort fully on each day if your room isn’t ready. The bell desk will hold your bags.
Hotel del Coronado
Arrivals between 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. can use the VIP check-in area, with little to no wait time. Provide your name to the Doorman on the drive, and they will direct you to it. Update: Until March 2024 (roughly) VIP check-in is at the Concierge Desk inside the lobby.
After March 2024 (roughly): The Parlor VIP check-in is located in the main drive, also known as the south drive. When facing the main drive, The Parlor is located on the left side set of doors opposite the main lobby doors. If you make it to the front desk, simply let the front desk agent know that you are considered one of the resort’s VIPs and would like to check into the Parlor. They can help direct you from there.
Check in at the front desk if you arrive outside of the Parlor’s operating hours.
Beach Village at The Del
Beach Village guests should head to the Beach Village Welcome Center off the north entry drive. There is signage to guide you to it.
Beginning January 8, 2024: Beach Village check-in will temporarily be at the VIP Parlor at the Main Resort due to the North Entrance for Beach Village being closed. This is expected to last 4-5 weeks.
Shore House at The Del
Shore House guests will also check in at the Shore House front desk and not in the main resort lobby.
How to Use the Daily Breakfast Credit
The Virtuoso breakfast credit is for up to two people per bedroom per night booked. Tax and gratuity are included in the voucher.
Hotel del Coronado & Beach Village at The Del
Hotel guests will enjoy an a la carte breakfast menu at Serea. Virtuoso breakfast vouchers will cover this experience.
Shore House at The Del
At check-in, you’ll receive the breakfast vouchers to use at Shore House Bistro that are a part of your Virtuoso package (tax and gratuity are included).
Please check Shore House Bistro’s breakfast hours and offerings. It is currently a buffet breakfast (and has been for some time) but can change to a la carte during off-peak days.
How to Use the $100 Food and Beverage Credit
You’ll also receive a $100 food and beverage credit voucher to use for dinner at the following outlets. You’ll need to spend this voucher in one transaction at one of the below restaurants.
- Serẽa (book dinner reservations ASAP — it’s popular)
- Sun Deck Bar & Grill
- Smokehouse & Bar at the Historic Laundry
- ENO Pizzeria + Grab & Go Market
- Beach + Taco Shack at The Del
If you don’t spend this voucher, you can’t apply it to the room rate or parking, so be sure to use it! If you have booked multiple rooms and would like to use more than one of these credits on the same tab, please tell your server in advance. They may split the check in half to apply one voucher per check.
The Virtuoso Room Upgrade
If there is an upgrade available at the time of check-in, they will present it to you. Upgrades are difficult to come by during peak season when the hotel sells out, so booking a room you will enjoy without an upgrade is always best.
Booking Activities & Spa
If you want to book activities like a beach roast, this is the activities page where you can make bookings. You can also contact the Resort Concierge and Reservations team on the property, who would love to help via the methods below.
- Main Resort and Shore House: Text the concierge at 619-535-8705 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Beach Village: Contact the Beach Village concierge by phone at 619-522-8809 or by email at BVconcierge@hoteldel.com.
If you want to make a spa appointment, the easiest thing to do is check the spa menu online and use their online booking portal or call the spa directly at 619-522-8884. You may be subject to long hold times if you call the main resort line.
You can also check Coronado Lifeguard Tower at sdbeachinfo.com to see if the ocean in front of the hotel is open for swimming and get an idea of what the beach (always open) is like on the hotel’s live cams.
The New Ocean Concierge Club Upgrade
You can add Ocean Concierge Club to your room, subject to availability. You do not need to add it for all nights of your stay. Here’s what you get:
- Windsor Cottage access, 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Daily breakfast buffet with mimosas at Windsor Cottage
- Light lunch buffet with a daily signature cocktail at Windsor Cottage
- Afternoon snack presentation at Windsor Cottage
- Dinner and bar service is available nightly at an additional cost (a la carte menu)
- Access to The Beach Club – the private member’s beach with lounge seating (available Memorial Day through October)
- Roast experience at Main Beach
- Concierge services at Windsor Cottage
- Hotel Guest Daily Fee (Beach Village Virtuoso guests get a 50% discount on the below rates)
- Adults (ages 13+): $150 per person
- Children (ages 5-12): $75 per child
- Children (ages 0-4): Complimentary with paying adult
Is the Ocean Concierge Club upgrade worth it? If it’s within your budget, it’s a very nice benefit. However, dining on the resort and at nearby Coronado restaurants is also quite good. Plus, if you’re reading this, you already have free daily breakfast for two per bedroom.
If you would like to add it, let me know or you can text the concierge.
As a Hotel del Coronado resort guest, you will have to budget for parking costs if you have a car. Street parking is far too difficult or timed in Coronado.
- Self-parking: $50/car per night (underground garage)
- Valet parking: $75/car per night
Electric vehicle charging stations are available on the surface level.
Earning Hilton Honors Points and the App
Virtuoso bookings do earn Hilton Honors points! At check-in, please verify that your Hilton Honors number is attached. It is difficult to credit miles after your stay.
You should also be able to see your Virtuoso reservation in the Hilton Honors app if your number is attached. We do not suggest changing your room location if the app permits, as guest relations tries to put Virtuoso guests in the best rooms available on the day of check-in.
Final Bill or Other Issues
This is a big and busy hotel. Sometimes, things go awry on your final bill. We can help you work it out, even after check-out, so just let us know.

Theme Park Discounts!
You will also receive a few informational emails I’ve put together for travelers to San Diego that cover things to do, how to buy theme park tickets, and more. But until those arrive, here’s some info!
**Sightseeing passes can provide limited value for families in San Diego during the entire month of October due to Kids Free October. This is an annual, county-wide promotion where kids who normally require a paid child’s ticket receive free admission to most San Diego attractions when accompanied by an adult holding a qualifying ticket. Sightseeing passes are typically not a qualifying ticket. Learn more about Kids Free San Diego.
Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Thanks again for your booking!
