THIRDHOME is a reciprocal travel club for luxury second homeowners that I had the pleasure of learning about in detail over the course of several days in beautiful Los Cabos, Mexico.
Members of THIRDHOME can book stays at over 8000 properties around the world that have an average value of $2.2 million. We toured several very different Los Cabos options and learned why this program is a unique way for members to enjoy some of the world’s most amazing accommodations without the expense of renting a villa or staying in a hotel.
If you have a second home, a door to extraordinary vacations is about to open.
Extraordinary could mean a luxury safari at Leobo Private Reserve, a private, guarded 20,000-acre estate in South Africa with what is regarded to be one of the most stunning safari houses in all of Africa.
This is one of many spectacular options. And, if you decide to join THIRDHOME, I have an exclusive offer for you (a $2500 value).
How THIRDHOME Works
Through THIRDHOME, second homeowners make their properties available for other members’ use for weeks of time. When they do this, Key credits are deposited into their account. The number of Keys a member earns is determined by the value of their home and the time of year (peak season weeks earn double Keys, for example).
Members redeem Keys for available weeks in other member homes. There is also a nominal exchange fee per week of between $395 – $995, which is a great value for what you receive.
The bottom line is that the more weeks you make available for other members, the more you can travel. It’s that simple.
How does Provence sound? The 5-bedroom Luxury Mas Provencal in the historic village of Meridol, France has a summer kitchen, bocce ball, a kids’ play room, two swimming pools as well as unobstructed views on the Durance river valley and Petit Luberon ridge.

What Makes THIRDHOME Different
THIRDHOME strives to make sure that second homeowners get out of the club what they put into it through exclusive club and reciprocal benefits programs. It is only for second homeowners who pass a series of verification steps before acceptance. Primary residences are not eligible and each home admitted to the program must meet very, very high standards.
It’s not a direct exchange program. This means that members can stay at any home that is available during the week they’d like to travel. A convenient real-time booking engine also eliminates back and forth between homeowners during the reservations process.
THIRDHOME creates a community of high caliber guests through the implementation of a feedback and rating system. Members must be in good standing to redeem Keys and will lose privileges if they are not. THIRDHOME has already put together terms and conditions as well as standards for guest behavior so there isn’t a need for the homeowner to assemble their own paperwork.
Where Can I Stay?
This is the fun part. Many of the homes are destinations in themselves.

The uber-chic Lime Samui Villa 2 comes fully-staffed with a private cinema, private gym, jaw-dropping views over the Andaman Sea and sunsets that are to die for.

In addition to privately-owned homes, members can choose residences inside select luxury full-service clubs and resorts that participate in the THIRDHOME program.
For example, those who are in the mood for a luxury resort can choose to stay in a The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club property (Aspen Highlands, Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, St. Thomas and Vail). I was also thrilled to see gorgeous villas like the one we recently enjoyed at Grand Isle Resort and Spa in Great Exuma is another option. And, there are more.
THIRDHOME’s affiliation with the TradeWinds Cruise Club provides the option for a luxury yachting vacation, too.
Speaking of yachts, guests of Can Panda in Ibiza, Spain can take out the owner’s 80-foot Sunseeker yacht (additional costs apply).

THIRDHOME Concierge Services
The new THIRDHOME Travel and Concierge division includes the Enhance Your Stay service and Connect Your Stay. Here’s how they work.
Enhance Your Stay
Consult with an in-house travel expert and submerge yourself in something new. THIRDHOME Travel and Concierge is led by Liz Bates, who has 28 years of experience and a robust network of industry contacts. With Enhance Your Stay, she will arrange trip and itinerary items such as:
- Reservations at the most coveted restaurants and clubs
- Fine wines and top-shelf spirits
- Spa treatments
- Destination event management for special occasions
- Transportation booking including ground, air, and rail
- Private local sightseeing guides
- Private sailing and fishing yachts
Connect Your Stay
Members who already have a THIRDHOME booked stay confirmed, and require any pre and/or post hotel accommodations in the destination, can turn to the Travel Concierge division to assist with booking and arranging every component of the journey. No Key or exchange fees are required, as all Hotel Add-On Accommodations will be quoted based on full-paying discounted or best available rates for specific required travel dates. The Connect Your Stay service provides a seamless transition between a THIRDHOME trip, and any other travel plans one may have.
In lieu of the normal key and exchange fee requirements, Concierge Services have a separate fee pricing that applies to all requests based on the number of people traveling and how many active days would be involved.
