2. LEGOLAND Castle Hotel
Why I like it:
While the original LEGOLAND Hotel offers a mix of themes, such as NINJAGO and Pirates, the Castle Hotel is entirely devoted to a medieval fantasy world. From the moment you enter the grand hall—where a LEGO wizard greets you—the experience is fully themed around knights, princesses, and magic. It’s a more contained, whimsical alternative with exclusive design elements like a lobby slide, courtyard movie nights, and an interactive outdoor play zone.
Key features:
- Three castle-themed room types: Knights & Dragons, Royal Princess, Magic Wizard

Insider tip:
The LEGOLAND Castle Hotel is conveniently located adjacent to the park and the LEGOLAND Hotel, allowing you to take advantage of early entry, 30 to 45 minutes before the park opens to the general public, depending on the day’s hours. I also find that it tends to book up faster than the LEGOLAND Hotel, so book early.
Booking tip:
Book through LEGOLAND.com to access packages that bundle rooms with tickets and breakfast. Suite categories book quickly during peak seasons, so reserve early if you need space for a larger family.
LEGOLAND Hotels
Which LEGOLAND Hotel Should You Choose?
- Pick LEGOLAND Hotel if your kids want a variety of themes like Pirate, Adventure, or NINJAGO and love lively environments with nightly entertainment and a disco elevator.
- Pick LEGOLAND Castle Hotel if your family prefers a more storybook vibe, with medieval themes, a quieter courtyard, and whimsical extras like a lobby slide and outdoor movies.
- Both offer early park access, themed rooms, and in-room LEGO treasure hunts, so you can’t go wrong—just match the hotel to your child’s favorite LEGO world.

10. Hotel Solea, Autograph Collection
Why go: Hotel Solea opened in March 2026 as a complete transformation of the former Sheraton Carlsbad, now part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. The property was gutted and redesigned with a coastal botanical aesthetic withnatural woods, woven textures, and sun-washed palettes throughout. It has the same private entrance to LEGOLAND California as neighboring hotels, plus three Italian-inspired restaurants led by Chef Riccardo Bilotta, whose résumé includes stints at two- and three-Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe. What about The Westin? The adjacent sister property is a perfectly good choice. It’s just a further walk to the LEGOLAND entrance and a bit quieter. Hotel Solea leans more family-friendly thanks to its pool area (with waterslide and kids’ pool) and family suites, but the real differentiator now is the dining: Verise is a destination restaurant in its own right.

Vacation Rentals Near LEGOLAND California

If you’ve decided that a vacation rental near LEGOLAND California is more appropriate for your situation, Carlsbad is full of lovely inland residential communities and properties near the beach.
FAQs About Hotels Near LEGOLAND in Carlsbad
Can you walk to LEGOLAND from nearby hotels?
Yes. Six Carlsbad hotels are within walking distance: the LEGOLAND Hotel, LEGOLAND Castle Hotel, Hotel Solea, Grand Pacific Palisades, The Cassara Carlsbad, and (to a slightly lesser extent) the Westin Carlsbad. Hotel Solea, Grand Pacific Palisades, and The Cassara share a private pedestrian entrance on the back side of the park.
Do LEGOLAND hotels include park tickets?
Not automatically. If you book a vacation package through LEGOLAND.com, tickets are bundled in. If you book a room only (Build Your Own Vacation), you’ll need to purchase tickets separately. Either way, hotel guests get early park access.
Which hotels offer early access to LEGOLAND?
The LEGOLAND Hotel and LEGOLAND Castle Hotel include early access, 30 to 45 minutes before the park opens, depending on the day’s hours. LEGOLAND Vacations Partner Hotels (booked through LEGOLAND.com) may also include early access as part of a package.
Do any hotels near LEGOLAND offer a free shuttle to the park?
Yes. Cape Rey Carlsbad, West Inn & Suites, The Cassara Carlsbad, and Hotel Solea all offer complimentary shuttle service to LEGOLAND (subject to availability). Hotel Solea also runs a resort trolley to Carlsbad Village, beaches, and the park.
Is it worth staying at the LEGOLAND Hotel or Castle Hotel?
If your kids are LEGO fans and under 12, yes. The themed rooms, in-room treasure hunts, nightly entertainment, and early park access make it a fully immersive experience. That said, they’re priced as moderate hotels with theme-park-level rates, so families on a budget or those splitting time between the beach and the park may prefer a nearby alternative.
How many days do you need at LEGOLAND California?
Most families find one full day is enough for the main park. If you’re adding the Water Park (open seasonally) or SEA LIFE Aquarium, plan for a day and a half to two days. The park is geared toward kids under 12, so older kids may move through it faster. Most families we work with stay one or two nights at the LEGOLAND park hotels and then stay elsewhere for the remainder of their trip.
Important Tips for Visiting LEGOLAND California
When planning a LEGOLAND California Carlsbad family getaway, it is critical to check park hours. This San Diego theme park is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the off-peak season.
The LEGOLAND Water Park is only open on weekends during off-peak season and not at all from November–February.
You may skip the lines at LEGOLAND California with a VIP tour that is handy during peak season.
The park is geared mostly toward children who are under 12 years old.
