Request Rates ›Carlsbad's most popular resorts (Aviara, La Costa) sit inland, so you'll drive to the beach. Cape Rey is the beachfront option if you want to walk to the sand.
The corridor where the I-5 and I-805 meet near Del Mar gets slow from about 4 to 6:30 p.m. Plan to eat dinner in La Jolla, Little Italy, or Downtown rather than drive through it.
For weather, come July through October. For lower rates, try the shoulder seasons: September after Labor Day into early November, or January through mid-March. Avoid major golf tournament dates.
