Right now, the way to visit Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, California is through its Marine World Experience. You’ll be able to learn about and see the animals who live at this theme park, which actually started off as a zoo and aquarium. No rides will be open.

Understand the New Health and Safety Measures

Guests ages 2 and above are required to wear masks and be subject to a noninvasive temperature screening prior to entering the park.

Like other California theme parks, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom will operate at a reduced capacity and guests will be expected to exercise proper distancing from other guests while in the park. Purchasing parking in advance online is strongly encouraged, and it’s on sale for a limited time at the price of $15.

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom currently offers three types of tickets: Single Day Tickets, Season Passes, and Memberships.

General Admission

At-the-gate ticket pricing for a one-day ticket starts at $34.99 for ages 3 and older and California Residents. Children ages 2 and under are free. Reservations are required.

Season Pass

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom offers a number of Season Passes as well. Season passes provide unlimited admission through the end of the calendar year of purchase. These may be the best option for those who intend only to visit the park more than once during the current calendar year, but perhaps not again in the following calendar year.

Seasons Passes do not come with discounts and benefits on select other a la carte options and purchases throughout the park.

Memberships

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom also offers Memberships that provide unlimited admission during a 12-month commitment in addition to other discounts and benefits including free parking.

Memberships may be best for visitors who intend to visit at least twice during a 12-month period, and who are likely to make use of member discounts and benefits throughout the park.

1. Discount Marine World Experience Tickets

aRes Travel is a San Diego based, authorized ticket seller to major California attractions. They offer discount tickets to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and other famous attractions such as the San Diego Zoo, LEGOLAND California, and Disneyland. aRes Travel charges a $2 convenience fee per ticket, but you will still likely come out ever so slightly ahead.

Right now, they are offering Marine World tickets. You can save a tiny bit by purchasing through them and making your reservation online.

2. Go San Francisco Pass

The Go San Francisco pass saves up to 57% off of admission to over top San Francisco attractions including Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, California’s Great America, Exploratorium, San Francisco Zoo, and more in three simple steps:

  1. Choose the pass option that best suits you (All-Inclusive or Explorer) and buy your pass in advance.
  2. Access your pass on a mobile device or print it at home.
  3. Show the pass at any eligible attraction, and you’re in for free.

The passes are available in 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5-day options, each at different prices. Make sure the attractions you’d like to visit are listed on the option you buy. You may also build your own pass including only the attractions you’d like to visit.

7. AAA Discount

Temporarily not available. Through the “Show Your Card and Save” program, AAA members receive $5 off on up to six Six Flags Discovery Kingdom tickets when presenting their membership card at a ticket booth. AAA members also receive 10% off of merchandise purchases of over $15 in the park.


8. Group Discounts

A group discount is available for purchases of 10 or more tickets. Details are available on the park’s website in the FAQ section.


9. Season Passes and Memberships

Frequent visitors should definitely consider a Seasons Pass or Membership.

Which of the four Membership options you choose depends on your budget, how often you visit Six Flags parks, and whether you value the premium add-ons included in the higher-tier memberships.

Yes, a Membership provides admission to all 26 Six Flags theme parks and water parks. Prices range from $6.49 per month to $17.99 per month. You may cancel any time after the initial 12 month period.

A Season Pass to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom entitles the holder to unlimited park admission through the end of the calendar year in which it is purchased. The price changes throughout the calendar year but it is currently $49.99.

How to Get to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is located in Vallejo, California in San Francisco’s North Bay area. It’s a popular thing to do in San Francisco with kids. I’m often asked how best to get there.

While one can drive over to Vallejo, of course, you can also take public transportation to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.

A ferry to Vallejo departs from Pier 39 San Francisco. Once in Vallejo, you can take a bus or an Uber to the park.
