Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina is idyllically located along spectacular Mission Bay. Its nearness to family activities like SeaWorld San Diego and Mission Beach makes it a good choice for families looking for more reasonably priced accommodations than La Jolla or downtown San Diego. Kids love the three waterslides in the pool area and marina activities like biking and whale watching tours. Parents may enjoy the spa and newly renovated accommodations with views of the ocean.
I have a special way for you to book in and share everything you need to know about the resort.

Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Dining
Note: Dining offerings are temporarily limited. A refillable kids cup is included in your resort fee that can be used at several outlets around the resort.
Dining choices at Hyatt Regency come in three options. Red Marlin Restaurant & Terrace is the hotel’s signature fine dining restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
For more casual fare served in a relaxed marina ambience, Pelican’s on the Bay is the place to be.
You can grab on-the-go eats from Market Mission Bay where you’ll find everything from savory paninis to Starbucks coffee to souvenirs.
Red Marlin Restaurant & Terrace
Red Marlin Restaurant & Terrace overlooks the beautiful Mission Bay Marina. This dynamic waterfront restaurant has a modern and warm design with gorgeous handcrafted, dark-wood tables with white cushioned chairs, and nautical-style white and navy booths.
These design elements are enhanced by soaring ceilings adorned with hanging moon-shaped lighting fixtures, hardwood floors, tabletop fire pits, and floor-to-ceiling windows encircling the entire space. Outside, you can enjoy the fresh ocean air while you dine on their terrace with marina and bay views.
Red Marlin is the perfect setting for unique California coastal cuisine prepared by the resort’s, Chef de Cuisine. His breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus feature local fresh seafood and sustainable ingredients that San Diego is known for with favorites like Beer Battered Swordfish Tacos. You can also expect landlubber selections like New York Steak – balsamic cipollini, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus, red wine demi, and maître d’ butter.
Pelican’s on the Bay
An open-air poolside bar and eatery, Pelican’s on the Bay offers share plates and specialty cocktails (including fish bowl sizes) in a laid-back, ocean-inspired setting overlooking the pool at Hyatt Regency Mission Bay. Offering a variety of both indoor and outdoor seating areas, the space offers a versatility that appeals to everyone with bar and lounge-style seating, as well as traditional seating.
Market Mission Bay
Nestled along the boardwalk overlooking the picturesque marina at Mission Bay, Market Mission Bay is the ideal spot to grab a quick bite to eat in a casual atmosphere. A one-stop-shop and gift shop, the Market serves up a fresh assortment of pastries, hot croissants, baked bagels, and hot Panini sandwiches daily, plus a variety of Starbucks™ specialty drinks and other essentials.
Souvenirs, beach clothes, hats, sunglasses, travel mugs, magazines, wine, and name-brand cold beverages are just a few of the items available at the Market.
The Mission Bay Neighborhood
Mission Bay is the largest human-made aquatic park in the United States, and Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina puts you in the midst of it.
You’ll be close to a plethora of fun marina and beach activities such as sports fishing, or chartering a boat. There are several nearby shops and tour companies that offer bike, kayak, surfboard, and boat rentals and lessons, plus snorkeling and scuba diving tours and other aquatic adventures.
Head to the Pacific Ocean at Mission Beach, about a mile away. Here, you’ll find sand volleyball courts, casual beachfront restaurants and bars, and the seaside amusement park, Belmont Park. The use of beach chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, water toys is included in your nightly resort fee.
SeaWorld San Diego is also located on Mission Bay, a short drive from the resort. (Be sure to read my advice for saving money on SeaWorld San Diego tickets.
Popular attractions like Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo, and exciting neighborhoods like the Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy, and Historic Old Town are also nearby.
Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina Reservations
I’m directing people to book on Hotels.com at the moment because they seem to be a smidge lower than the 10% off rate Hyatt is offering.
If you plan to stay two nights or longer, you can book the Hyatt Prive rate through me. This is the brand’s VIP program and the rate you receive is Hyatt’s Standard Rate. Hyatt Prive guests receive:
- $100 USD Property Credit
- Room Upgrade within 24 hours of booking (excluding non-suite to suite upgrades)*
- Breakfast for Two
- Welcome Amenity
- Guest Welcome Letter
- Early Check-In (as early as 9 a.m.)*
- Connecting Rooms*
- Free Wifi
*Subject to availability — the room upgrades can take up to three days to process at this hotel.
These benefits are not combinable with Hyatt’s sale rates. They can be more beneficial if you plan to eat breakfast on the resort. The trick is that the hotel does not put a value on breakfast because they kindly let you order a reasonable breakfast in Red Marlin or for takeaway at Marketplace.
If you would like to request a Hyatt Prive rate, because you have checked the Standard Rate on Hyatt.com and think the benefits are worthwhile, send me your dates.
