The Opposite House looks like a giant Rubik’s Cube in shades of green set in the midst of the trendy Sanlitun neighborhood. This expat hot spot is known for its plethora of restaurants, bars, clubs, shops, and the ultra-chic Taikoo Li retail wonderland.

Young travelers will appreciate being at the center of Sanlitun with its lively nightclubs and late-night food trucks. Couples will like the romantic vibe of this quiet oasis with in-room mood lighting.

The Japanese-designed luxury boutique hotel in Beijing has a striking minimalist ambience with its six-story, light-filled atrium, and dramatic contemporary style. Rosewood Beijing may very well be the classiest hotel in the city. It offers guests a gracious blend of modern luxury and Chinese culture with chic accommodations, elegant public spaces, sophisticated amenities, trendy restaurants, and personalized service.

Located in the Central Business District, it’s an excellent choice for business travelers, but families will love the pool and the breakfast buffet with kid-friendly options.

No detail has been spared at Rosewood Beijing, from the stunning 82-foot-long indoor swimming pool beneath a sky-lit atrium to contemporary artworks throughout. Luxurious Sense spa has six treatment rooms and is accessible by a footbridge from the pool.

4. Aman Summer Palace

Aman hotels are known throughout the travel world for being a class apart from others. The historic Aman Summer Palace is situated adjacent to the famous Summer Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site where generations of Chinese royalty used to summer.

5. The Peninsula Beijing

The Peninsula Beijing is the embodiment of opulence. The hotel’s Chinese-influenced design incorporates luxurious materials like white marble, jade, and rosewood. The all-suite property, the first luxury hotel in China, went through a $23 million renovation in 2017.

Centrally located in the Wangfujing Shopping District, the hotel is surrounded by lavish shopping opportunities, including the hotel’s own Peninsula Arcade, a collection of 33 luxury stores.

Attentive staff with iPads check you in and out, book spa treatments, and provide personalized concierge services. The hotel has a stunning black pool and a state-of-the-art fitness facility. The world-class spa focuses on traditional Chinese wellness.

There are two restaurants – Huang Ting serving Cantonese fare, and Jing featuring farm-to-table-style eats. You can enjoy traditional tea either in the lobby or at Ming Dynasty-era tables in Huang Ting.

Accommodations include 230 spacious suites, the largest in Beijing. A subdued grey and white color palette, calligraphic art, large living areas, bedrooms, dressing rooms, and expansive marble bathrooms create a soothing, opulent ambience. 6. The Ritz-Carlton Beijing China Central Place

This Beijing luxury hotel is in the city’s Central Business District, a few minutes’ walk to the metro and near SKP mall in addition to other conveniences. We stayed here recently and loved the location but were especially pleased with the friendly service from the staff. The traditional English-country décor is surprising and inviting. The Lounge, an English manor home escape, offers Chess Board Afternoon Tea where you can experiment pairing teas with French Valrhona chocolates. It’s through some of the hotel’s other amenities that The Ritz-Carlton connects with its Chinese host city.

A welcome in-room formal tea ceremony with an onsite Tea Master is one of the hotel’s signature amenities. Kids can also take a dumpling making class. The Ritz-Carlton Spa provides luxury treatments and ancient healing rituals in seven stylish treatment rooms.

An 82-foot lap pool and deck located on the top floor offers an oasis of tranquility. The 24-hour fitness center features TechnoGym equipment, heat and relaxation amenities, and an outdoor deck. Yu is a fine-dining experience with Chinese cuisine and a Tea Master. Borolo serves classic Italian fare, and Aroma is an international all-day buffet.

The Beijing luxury hotel’s guest rooms and suites reflect classic English country manor décor. Spacious guest rooms have comfortable work spaces and marble bathrooms with soaking tubs and separate rain showers. Suites add large living spaces and walk-in closets. 7. Bulgari Beijing

The Bulgari brand is synonymous with luxury, and this new 2017 Beijing hotel is no exception. Set in the Embassy District of Beijing along the Liangma River, the hotel provides views of grand residences, tree-filled green spaces, and a cosmopolitan skyline.

The hotel is part of the Genesis complex that includes the Genesis Art Foundation’s museum with 13 galleries. The lavish hotel drew design inspiration from its artistic and natural surroundings.

Hotel amenities include a two-story, 16,000-square-foot spa featuring traditional Chinese wellness treatments in eleven treatment rooms. The spacious gym uses TechnoGym equipment and features Workshop workouts and Pilates.

The beautiful 82-foot indoor pool has private spa cabanas and relaxing music. Il Ristorante is the hotel’s signature Italian restaurant led by a three-Michelin-starred chef. Il Bar provides a renowned Apertivo Hour, champagnes, wines, and sophisticated cocktails.

There is a spa, pool, and gym on the 59th floor. An 82-foot-long lap pool is in a light-filled, quiet space with two large Jacuzzis and beautiful nighttime views. Biologique Recherche Spa provides guests with a full menu of luxe treatments. A state-of-the-art fitness center offers Kinesis equipment and spectacular views. China Grill is a multi-level restaurant on the building’s 65th floor with a dramatic glass pyramid ceiling and spectacular panoramic views. The family-friendly restaurant serves meat, fish, and seafood.

The five-star Ritz-Carlton Beijing Financial Street is one of the few best Beijing hotels in the Central Business District to fully incorporate the Feng Shui philosophy based on the Chinese Five Elements into their design and décor. Every piece is meticulously placed in the light and airy lobby to create an overall sense of balance and harmony. This is another good choice for business travelers or those looking to restore balance to their lives.

This hotel offers ancient Chinese therapies in a luxurious spa that occupies an entire floor. Eleven treatment rooms offer a variety of specialty treatments. A fully equipped fitness center is available 24 hours a day. Qi is the hotel’s signature restaurant, serving Cantonese food. Greenfish serves international cuisine buffet-style, and Crèpe serves award-winning Italian fare.
