When booking your vacation to Six Flags Over Georgia, it’s important to check operating dates and hours as these vary throughout the year. Hurricane Harbor is open on select days from Memorial Day through Labor Day and has different operating hours than the main park.

All guests must purchase tickets before entering the park. Season pass holders and members must also reserve a date and time online before entering the park. Tickets have a stated entry time. You cannot enter before your stated time, but you can enter anytime after the time stamp on your ticket.

Many rides have height restrictions that vary from a minimum of 36 inches to 54 inches. Some rides also have height and age restrictions, so carefully check the signs at each attraction to avoid disappointment. There are no height restrictions for shows and special event experiences.

Health and Safety Measures

Six Flags Over Over Georgia has enacted several strict safety measures to keep guests safe in today’s climate.

Before visiting, guests should review the park’s health policy and safety measures. Face coverings are not mandatory during the visit but are recommended for unvaccinated individuals. The park remains dedicated to maintaining the highest cleanliness and sanitization standards within all attractions and facilities. They also enforce that guests and staff frequently wash their hands and use hand sanitizer located throughout the parks.

Fun Six Flags Over Georgia Facts

In 1967, Six Flags Over Georgia was the second amusement park to open under the Six Flags banner. Following the success of the original Six Flags theme park in Arlington, Texas, founder Angus Wynne sought to establish a second park in the Southeastern United States.

The park, which encompasses over 100 acres, is also home to the Riverview Carousel which was built in 1908 and is one of only three remaining carousels in the United States. The carousel moved to Six Flags Over Georgia from its original home at Riverview Park in Chicago in 1972.

Wynne bought the land along the Chattahoochee River in 1964, with construction starting the following year. Hollywood art directors Randal Duell and Hans Peters developed the park, which became the first amusement park in the United States to have multiple admission gates.

Just as with the park in Texas, Six Flags over Georgia takes its name from the six flags that have flown over some part of the state during its long history. Those flags are from Spain, France, Great Britain, the United States, the Confederacy, and the state of Georgia.

Six Flags Over Georgia Tickets & More FAQ

You’ll have a lot to keep in mind when planning your family vacation to Six Flags Over Georgia. Here are some of your most commonly asked questions.

What’s the difference between a Six Flags Over Georgia Season Pass and a Membership?

Season Passes and Memberships are two completely different types of products. Season passes are for guests who want to visit the Six Flags parks as many times as possible during a single season while also getting limited perks. Memberships offer a total experience for guests that includes food, merchandise, games, and a host of other experiences.

What’s the difference between an Any Day ticket and a dated discount ticket for Six Flags Over Georgia?

Guests can use Any Day tickets whenever the park is open during the season. Dated discount tickets are only good for the day you have preselected online. However, if you miss your designated day, you can exchange your ticket for a different day in the future, but you’ll have to pay the difference if your newly selected day is more expensive.

Can I use a Six Flags Ticket purchased from another park at Six Flags Over Georgia?

You can only use One Day tickets at the park designated on your ticket. Season Passes that give you admission to multiple parks must first be activated at Six Flag Over Georgia before you can use them at other facilities in the Six Flags family.
